No I wasn't at state...had the opportunity to see Jalen a few times. He is great, Tyler is simply better. But hey that's my opinion. If Jalen had to play in the same disctrict Tyler played in he wouldn't have been at state either. Tyler played much better competition that Jalen did night in and night out. Even outside the district against Walton, GA who had 2 All Americans Tyler had 30 pts 15 rebs. Both are great players but I think Tyler is the best around.

Not to make this a debate, but Steele literally won a state championship for his team. Fulton did not have any size. Until Hood gets his team to the Boro, he's simply a great player on a good team.

I'm well aware of the talent that surrounds Hood. Steele had more help. That's not a knock on the talent at LC it's just a fact. Fulton had another D1 guard in Gallman. Steele did hit the game winner, but I can assure you that he did not win the state championship by himself. Jodie Wright coached teams don't have only one player. Everyone plays a role in the success. As far as Fulton's lack of size it's a non issue because they defend so well.

I don't have a dog in the fight, and I'm not a fan of LC or Fulton but Steele was their leading scorer on the year and he and Gallman carried that team. Boyd chipped in but let's be honest, how many people outside of Fulton thought the Falcons had a chance to repeat? They did a heck of job repeating and Steele had much to do it with. Hood had just as much help, Bobby Ault, Powers, Bevins and company may not be D1 players but they can play and they are/were good compliments to Hood.

Downtown, the orange colored glasses are clouding your vision. It;s tough to look at Fulton's schedule and say LC's was tougher. Fulton plays every AAA in Knoxville minus Farragut who dropped them due to the recent whipping. I love Tyler's game, but Jalen had the chance to do it against Bolivar Central and Booker T on the biggest stage, and played Bearden better then anyone on this side of the state. The worst out of district games for Fulton were probably AC and Clinton. There are no Loudon, Kingston, HV, Sweetwater's etc(district Sevier loss). Fulton beat Central and beat Oak Ridge without Gallman who ended LC's season. Say what you want about a Wright coached team, but LC had a nice staff too and a lot of talent. I'm not sure why you are debating this, but go to the Boro next year and Steele will be doing it again without the supporting cast. Hopefully, Tyler and the Panthers will too. That would be pretty cool....Good luck in Fulton's region....lol

  • 4 weeks later...

Tyler Hoods better ive guarded both but both are great

Did you guard both in scrimmage or a game.? Steele plays best with the pressure on. Without Steele Fulton does not win the state twice. He is a pressure player. I agree Hood has been the best player in the paint since he played at cherokee middle school in Roane County. But it takes 5 players to win in AAA. Steele will look like he is not doing well but he takes over in the tough games. Hood was shut down in the tournament game I saw last year pretty well

I think both will play division 1 ball. LC will finish 3rd or 4th in their district.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
