CPA went to 0-2 for the new season after their 2nd loss to a very good Kentucky team. Last week they got beat badly by the 2007 and 2008 2A state champs - Ft. Campbell. This week they hosted Lexington Christian, a 1A school that lost in the KY. 1A finals in 2007 and semifinals in 2008.

This game really should not have been as close as it was. LC had a lot of size and experience, with an excellent Sr. QB and a school record setting RB. The first quarter ended 7-6 in favor of LC with CPA's air attack working pretty well.

LC had a good drive for a TD, and took advantage of a blocked punt in CPA territory and an interception return for a TD in the 2nd quarter to go up 28-6 at half.

LC opened the 3rd with a drive that was stopped when the LC running back fumbled on CPA's 3YL as it looked like he may score. CPA started on the 3, drove past midfield, backed LC up with a good punt, then held LC to a punt that was shanked and gave CPA good field position. They scored and made the 2 pt. PAT to cut the lead to 28-14.

In the 4th, LC's QB took a blind hit and fumbled in the air. The ball was caught by a CPA player and run in about 30 yards for a score. LC 28-21.

CPA bent but didn't break, LC kept making mistakes and getting penalties and CPA started a drive with about 4 minutes to go. On 4th down at about the 10, LC interfered in the end zone, giving CPA the ball 1st down on the 5 with about a minute to go. CPA's QB, Roman, ran the ball in for the TD with 30 seconds to go.

LC leads 28-27.

CPA decides to go for the win and tries the Tim Tebow fake run, jump pass. LC defends it well and wins 28-27.

IMO, CPA was playing a better team that they had a chance to beat by taking advantage of some major breakdowns by LC in the 2nd half. I am really proud of how the Lions hung tough and almost pulled off the upset, when they could have easily folded their tents at half. They showed a lot of heart.
