No ins with TSSAA--it's mostly a travel issue. Going to Murfreesboro 2-5 times in one season gets old.

Plus, even though the road to regions might be easier, the road to the state tournament still runs through the 'boro. And who is to say that the district won't become a lot more competitive in the next few years as the travel programs representing the district's schools (Camp Forrest, U.C. United, W.C. United) continue to improve along with the young talent that a lot of these teams have? I wouldn't be surprised if the district has more freshman starting than seniors.

My understanding is that the teams from District 6 AAA will have to play the teams from District 5 AAA for the Region. Which would have them playing the teams in the Chattanooga area instead of Murfreesboro for the Regions and then they would face the District 7 & 8 AAA Region finalists to advance to the State Tournament. If this is wrong, then someone can correct me. Yes, District 6 AAA is very, very weak compared to other districts with Cookeville being the only competitive team in the district. However, I think they are able to advance and to compete against other teams outside their district including District 7 AAA. Regardless, this is getting to a fun time of the year and I wish everyone good luck.

While District 6 is weak They do compete outside of District-Warren Co has defeated Lincoln Co and Franklin Co this year-not the greatest of wins but an improvement from years past-They also have a U14/U15 club team that plays in the spring

To gain some respect All District 6 teams need to move away from playing each other twice next year and go out and schedule some tougher teams outside of their district schedule.

Warren Co 2 Coffee Co 1 last night

Cookeville 6-0-0 = 18 points

Coffee Co 2-3-2 = 8 points

Warren Co 2-3-1 = 7 points

Cumberland Co 0-1-4 = 4 points

White Co 0-3-3 = 3 points

Congrats to Cookeville on securing first place. Second place is still up in the air but I predict that it will go to Warren County. That would have White County playing at Warren County and Cumberland County playing at Coffee County for the first round of the District Tournament. I have not seen or heard anything from the coaches to know what their District By Laws are and how they have determined what the progression would look like. The only thing that I have heard (not confirmed) is that the lower seeded teams will play at the higher seeded teams for the first round. If this is wrong, will someone with first hand knowledge please post the correct progression as I have others to ask me and we would like to know. Good luck to everyone.

Arsenal - thanks for getting us the correct info. That would mean that Coffee County and Warren County will play each other in the first round and the winner of the Cumberland County and White County game will play at Cookeville. Sounds like fun and I wish the best for everyone.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
