cbg
Looking on the USA Wrestling Magazine website I found the following Tennessee wrestlers that became high school All-Americans. If you see a ? it is that I have no additional information on this wrestler. Where did these wrestlers attend college and what are they doing now. As you will see some years Tennessee did not have anyone listed as an All-American. Why were Adrian Norfleet (Whites Creek) 3X Champion, Kenny Hill (East Ridge) 3X Georgia Champion & 1X Tennessee Champion or Michael Carletello (Father Ryan) 2X Champion not given All-American consideration? All 3 of these wrestlers won their titles before the D1/D2 split and would be in the top 15 best wrestlers ever in Tennessee with Norfleet pushing for number one. Was it just a case of someone failed to send the information to the magazine? 1968 Luther Killian (McCallie), 1969 Pezavan Whatley (Notre Dame), 1970 Albert Wilson (Baylor), 1971 Steve Agnew (Brainerd), Steve Roden (East Ridge), Carter Davis (Morristown East), 1972 Martin Francis (Notre Dame), Jon Bennett (McCallie), Tim Wilson (Father Ryan), 1973 David Weeks (Notre Dame), 1977 Jeff Howard (Cleveland), 1978 James Jabley (Notre Dame), 1980 Marc Pendgrass ?, 1983 David Thoni (Father Ryan), 1984 Roger Kendrick (East Ridge), Jeff Eaves (Tyner), 1985 Chris Marable (Christian Brothers), Chris Mullin (Notre Dame), John Noback (McCallie), 1987 Andy Alisago (Baylor), 1989 Ronnie Stevenson (McGavock), 1991 David Vance (McCallie), 1992 Scott Fouts (Baylor), 1993 George Lewis (McCallie), Bill Wunderlich (McCallie), 1994 David Levitt (McCallie), 1995 Carlos Thompson (Cleveland), 1996 Tim Voiles (Lookout Valley), 1998 Shannon Sayne (Knoxville Halls) 1999 Scott Wells (Brentwood Academy), Jamie Castleman (Father Ryan), Sean Kim (Brentwood), 2000 J.T. mtnrasslin
Albert Wilson from 1970 was at Baylor. He was a multi-time Mid South champion and a National Prep champion. He went to Chapel Hill and as far as I know did not wrestle there.
cbg
It looks like we have most of the information. What about 1980 Marc Pendgrass & 1984 Jeff Eaves? Could these be a mistake by USA Wrestling Magazine and the gentlemen did not wrestle in Tennessee? I have not been able to find them in the TSSAA records. These are just the All-Americans from the USA Wrestling Magazine publication but what about the All-Americans from Amateur Wrestling News and the kids that became All-Americans at the Senior Nationals? Would it not be great for the Tennessee Wrestling Federation to post all of the past Tennessee All-Americans on their website?
legman
Jeff Eaves was the 1984 TN. State Champion at 185 lbs. He wrestled at Tyner along with Jeff Haven and Brad Jackson who were both pretty dang tough that year.
tnko
What about the Head Coach for Ensworth now who was a state champion for Overton and a National champion as well back in the 90's? He was never an All-American?
