Off week for Halls

Should be a good week for evaluation.

Halls has had 2 great games after starting 0-6. Playoff hopes are very slim. The passing game has improved for both QB's. The defense is playing pretty good.

Gresham, Bright (anyone heard how he is doing) and Fitzpatrick have been bright spots on both sides of the ball.

Overall, I would have to give the team "D".

What do you all think? What are the prospects for next year? I am not hearing alot out of the soph or junior classes. Some of this is due to injury, (#6, #7) but still.....Who will lead nest year? Are we in for more seasons of being under .500.

I'm going to disagree with you on a "D". This team has played extremely well this season minus the scores on the board. I'm going to go with a "B". There have been some mistakes, but there has been some crazy play calling this year that did not help the situation at all. Defense looks better than pretty good in my opinion as well. There are a lot of what if's and maybe's, but I am still going to say what if Dowdy #14 had been with us all season? The passing game has improved and looks good. I think it would be a different outcome but that is my opinion. Not saying he would have given us a win because it is a team effort, but think he could have helped. That is also not saying that Josh #11 hasn't done a great job because he has.

From what I hear, Bright is doing better. Fitz is doing a good job getting some yardage as well as Burton.

As far as next year, rumor has it that #6 wont be with us,but that is just a rumor no confirmation. I do hear that he will definitely not be back this year due to upcoming surgery. I hear #7 Long could be back for the Campbell County game. He is definitely a kid that has been missed. Hope he is well healed on his return. Still think he and his brother are a good combination and from what I have seen, #56 has led the team in defense and doing an outstanding job. McFalls #79 had a great game last week. Hope the coaches are recognizing these kids for their hard work and keeping them pumped up.

This is all my opinion not that it matters. But, I say these boys will win out. Not sure how or if the playoffs will be in our future, but stranger things have happened. I am gonna continue to support these guys all the way through.

Players....finish it! You can do it, play hard and play smart and finish out your last two games and make a statement! Go Halls!

We can't look back but only look forward.

I hope we can win out and I think we still have a outside chance of a playoff spot. Anyone with any info what we need to have happen to make this a reality?

It would be a huge huge loss if #6 O'laughlin transfers. I'm a big fan of his.

Halls has always won as a team and they lose as a team. Remember the unhearalded guys in the trenches do the grunt work so the marquee players get their chance to light up the scoreboard. We have to keep things in perspective and not get too carried away with irrational exuberance.

I hope Chad Bright is healthy to finish the season.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
