6A Playoffs the way I see it

The new playoff system stinks. Just more money for the T$$AA.....

 

You will get to see such exciting games as a 3-7 team travelling to play a team that is 10-0....

WOW, Oh man I can hardly wait for that one.....

 

A 6A team in a predominantly 5A conference only has to be better than the other 6A opponents to reach the playoffs.....and so on for 4A/3A and 2A/1A. Thus, a 1-9 or 2-8 season can get some of the teams in the playoffs while better teams with 4-6 or maybe even 5-5 or better records stay home.

 

Imagine this scenario. 6A team that beat the other 6A teams in conference finishes 2-8, wins the next 5 games and finishes 7-8 with a Gold Ball. I can hear them now...."back when I played we won state", "But Dad,, you told me your team finished with only 7 wins".....

My wildcard teams were Overton, Independence, Rossview, Lebanon, an Bearden

 

Notice how the selection of wildcard teams COULD balance the PODs and create "less travel", kinda self fulfilling prophecy.

 

I do not think your set-up is possible...........here is why!

 

Pod 1 = Districts 1-4

 

Pod 2 = Districts 5-8

 

Pod 3 - Districts 9-12

 

Pod 4 = Districts 13-16

 

Example............you have MJ; who will be District 9 Champs crossing to the East into Pod 2. I am pretty sure that cannot happen. they will be a definite Pod 3 team!

 

I really think that all district champs will be a host team in their geo pod!!

Pod 1 does not = Districts 1-4, Pod 1 = the 8 eastern most teams in the playoffs, the way I understand it. Pod 4 = the 8 western most teams in the state. Then divide the 16 middle teams into east and west for Pod 2 and 3.

Just a quick question, If Antioch somehow beats Mcgavock would they not be the 2 seed out of metro? That would give them wins over Overton and Mcgavock.

Yes, again it's "the way I see it" though, and that is with McGavock beating Antioch.

There is seeding in the pods.

District champions get the top seeds. You break a tie first by looking head 2 head, then overall record and so on.

The bottom seed first goes to a wild card team and so on.

 

Teams from same district can't meet in first round unless there are five teams from the same district.

 

And Quad 1 has quite a few good teams and district champs too

 

1. Sevier Co.

2. Ooltewah

3. Maryville

4. Potentially Oak Ridge

 

other teams include Farragut and Bearden

 

I think Sevier Co. and Ooltewah will be flipped if both are 10-0.

 

I disagree, Ooltewah will be the #1 seed in the pod! Why would they switch with Sevier Co???...Makes no sense..Please explain to help the old hairy one out!!!

and any of the other 4 (probably Sevier co or Maryville) in the 3rd
