Grundy 58-55 at Sequatchie tonight. One point lead for Sequatchie after a quarter, 28-26 Grundy at the half. Grundy got ahead by as much as 11 early in the third. Sequatchie fought back in the fourth, 3 point game with 30 seconds left. Grundy hit 2-4 FT late, Sequatchie had a chance to tie in the last seconds but couldn't get a great look and missed the 3. For Sequatchie, Cartwright scored 18 with 7 assists, Smith scored 16, Cordell had 8 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks.

Marion escapes 59-57 at Sequatchie tonight. Marion got ahead 7-0 but by the end of the first led just 17-14. Back and forth in the second quarter with neither team leading by more than 4. Sequatchie went ahead 32-31 by halftime.

Third quarter was more of the same. Sequatchie went up by 4 on a three, Marion retook it at 46-43 after three. In the fourth, Sequatchie gets 2 from Cordell, 57-55 at 2:30, Brocks ties it for Marion at 2:00. Marion misses with about a minute left, Sequatchie gets the rebound but gets called for the foul, just terrible. The Marion player didn't block out and the taller player was behind him, but made zero contact while getting the ball. That is not over the back. The free throw is missed, so it didn't matter but what wasn't called later was frustrating at the end of the game.

Sequatchie runs out some time but is called for a travel with 30 seconds left so they definitely have plenty of fault for the loss. 10 seconds to go, Marion misses the shot but this time it's Sequatchie not boxing out and Marion is fouled, a good call, then hits 2-2 FT. 59-57. Sequatchie gets the ball down the court quickly and there was clearly contact, especially if they felt the rebound a minute prior was worthy of a foul. No whistle and the refs hustled out of the gym while Sequatchie's players and coaches were rightfully a bit stunned. You just want some consistency, "call it on both ends", and that wasn't it in the final minute. Sequatchie still would have had to make 2-2 FT in a very tough spot.

Cordell had a good game scoring with 19, had points inside and made outside shots. Kilgore and Cartwright each scored 14 and Smith had 10 rebounds for Sequatchie. Marion likely was led by Hennegar, scored up close and displayed nice shooting touch. Both teams hit several threes and had a quick pace, it was an entertaining game.

I just saw the box score for Marion vs Bledsoe, two of Marion's best players weren't in it. I'm not sure the reason but it had to have made a difference.

Henegar and Brocks attended the South Pitt Championship game and didn't attend the mandatory amount of school time to be eligible to play... Thats having your priorities in order...

We can always whine about the refs can't we....................that is the only reason yall lost, not because of turnovers, blown layups, missed free throws........

WHO'S YOUR DADDY SEQ?????? :thumb::thumb:

I wrote they had plenty of blame themselves including in the last minute, plus they'd have had to make 2-2 FT to tie, not even win it as it would gone to overtime. If you'd not been so eager to throw out "who's your daddy" maybe you wouldn't have missed it.

If you were even there, do you think there was contact on the foul with a minute left, and do you think there was contact in the closing seconds? If the first was called with no contact do you believe there should have been one called no matter how few seconds remained, on the other end? I'm not looking for "if the ref doesn't call it, then it doesn't matter", what do you think?

As for "WHO'S YOUR DADDY SEQ??????". maybe given the offensive leaders for the purple team tonight the answer should be South Pittsburg, not Jasper.

Come on Indian... Its not like Sequatchie Co. has never had a transfer or two who did well in sports. Kids go to elementary and jr. high where its more convenient but when it comes time to go to high school things change and they do what they think is best for them. You are starting to sound like a SP poster with that crap...

You'd be surprised at how few transfers have been difference makers including from out of state, going back quite a few years. Some were good players but not significantly better than what was already available. For transfers from the local/regional area it's even less so that's telling me they're not switching for sports. This year there was a starting linebacker who I believe moved in from somewhere in Georgia maybe to start 10th grade. He was a senior first year starter. The softball team should have one new from Florida on the team. That's really all that comes to mind on transfers without looking over rosters and it's a little surprising given the county's growth. Others may have moved in during middle school years or even elementary, from other parts of the state or country.

That was more a knock at "Truth" especially for ignoring what was said in the first post. Never once did it mention that cost the game-but the inconsistency on what they were calling fouls in the last minute did rob them of a chance to tie. I don't think anyone watching the game could deny that part of it.
