Jo Byrns RB's: Morris or Ashabraner?

I am a big fan of Jo Byrns football and have been for a long time. Over the last 5 or 6 years there have been two running backs that have stood above the rest of the bunch. Colton Morris and LK Ashabraner are two of the best backs to ever go to thru JBS. So I ask you: Who was the better OVERALL runningback? This is not a debate over who was the better team, just the better back.

Heres my take:

SIZE/STRENGTH: This handsdown goes to LK. Hes bigger and stronger then Colton was.

SPEED: Again this goes to LK. In a spring LK would blow past Colton.

QUICKNESS: This one is really hard. I give the edge to Colton, but just barely.

POWER: This is another hard one. Although Colton was smaller, he brought a huge punch when he hit somebody. Both of these guys never went backwards and always got those all important last two yards. I call this one a scratch.

ELUSIVENESS: This is the key to why both of these guys are so good. Both seem to be able to avoid hits like a plague. Again this I call a scratch.

VISION: This is probably the easiest category i have made. Colton had better vision then any RB I have ever seen at the HS level. He saw holes that not even a bullet could make. His ability to cut back was the best thing about his game.

BALL PROTECTION: Colton did have a few fumbles in his career, but in big games or playoff games he never had one fumble in his Jr. or Sr. year. On the other hand, LK has all some small issues with ball control. Edge goes to Colton.

WILL POWER: I will not even try to answer this question because both of these guys have/had an extreme will to win. They are true competitors and thats part of why they are so good.

OVERALL: LK obviously has a better chance to play college ball simply bc he has much better size and speed, but the ultimate question is if you had to win one ball game at the high school level, who would you chose to be in your backfield. For me I would almost have to do pick blindly, but if I had to choose. I would put Colton Morris in my backfield bc the bigger the game the bigger he performed!

What do u guys think?

We all like to speculate on who is better? Is Peyton Manning better or is Tom Brady? Was Magic better or Bird? Frankly it comes down to opinion. As a JBS fan this is a topic that does not need to be discussed. It can only create a situation where one JBS fan is debating another. It could lead to bad feelings. The author of this forum I am sure only wants a civil debate, but I could see this getting out of hand and some feelings being hurt.

I mean no disrespect to the author--in his post you can tell alot of thought was put into this, but this topic should be debated among friends on a sideline not on the web. The author is right both are and were great for JBS.

To have this discuss will only bring people that you know as friends would turn into a Hatfield and Mc Croy . Best thing is to say both young men has done their best job they could have done for the team. And leave it at that.................................................

I'm with everyone else. They had a JB on their helmet and that's all we need to know. I don't want to discourage dynasty from posting; sounds like a strong JB fan that we need to have on these boards!

Sounds like LK is the better back but since the JB fans don't want to debate it maybe it's Morris.

I'd have to choose Marco Daily. Oh!! He wasn't one of the choices. I have to say they were and are both pretty good. Morris torched us once for 270 or so but If I was going to watch someone play in 1 or 2A to see a good running back, second to Marco, I would go to watch Ashabraner. He has really impressed me the times I've seen him.

LOL Not everyone can have a Marco! If they did then he wouldn't be special.

    • Wow I haven't been keeping up with softball had no idea.Been keeping up with baseball and we are slowly fading there.I will check it out!!Thx
    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
