sr020693
How is Maplewood a #1 and DL a #4 when DL finished first in their district? Can somepne explain this?
sportsnutdad
It was because of Maplewood's win over Lipscomb. That is the only reason Maplewood won the District Championship. As for the seeding, the bracket Lipscomb was placed in has several teams who played in less competitive districts, thereforethey have better records. -snd

sportsnutdad
likearock, You're from Giles County, and just trying to stir things up. I said they played less difficult districts, which I believe to be true. Another factor is how Lipscomb team lost experience, and the coaches made several adjustments until they had the right people playing in the right postions. Also, our early schedule included Maplewood and Overton, who are both very tough teams. I will add that in 2007, Fulton fans said we weren't any good because we played such a light schedule (Region 5-3A was down a bit in 2007). As DL proved, they were good, but just unproven. (I believe Goodpasture was probably the best test, during the regular season that year.) I do believe in the playoffs most every team is capable of winning. You have to stay focused on each game, and win one at a time. DL will do that. If we play GC in round #2, it will be a good game. There's no doubt GC is a good team, because they were last year and they didn't lose many players. However, I don't believe they played as tough of a schedule as DL. If you look at Sonny Moore's Ratings http://bellsouthpwp2.net/p/o/powerrater/h-s-foot.htm, DL played the third hardest schedule in all of Class 4A, behind Maplewood and Whites Creek. I do believe this is a fairly accurate rating, and stand by my statement about the difficulty of the schedules. -snd
