Lipscomb @ Giles Official Thread prediction

Hey likesa(word that closely resembles "rock").......... :thumb::hungry::thumb:

I never said Fairview would "test" Giles. I said that Fairview is no Hickman or East Hickman. Guess what????? They weren't. Hickman went 4-6. East Hickman went 2-8. Fairview went 6-4 and won the 3A portion of the district.

Giles lost to Cookeville. Giles beat Page close. Giles crushed Spring Hill, Lawrence County, Fairview, & Chester County.

David Lipscomb beat Page, Pearl-Cohn, CPA, & East Literature in close games. David Lipscomb hammered Jackson South Side, Greenbrier, & Whites Creek. David Lipscomb lost tight games to Overton & Maplewood. David Lipscomb got hammered by Goodpasture.

Outside of Stratford the Mustangs have not played a team that is "weak" by any means. Giles County has played Marshall County, Lewis County, Hickman County, & East Hickman. All of those teams provide no test for Giles. The Bobcats have not been in a real test other than the season opener against Cookeville and their win against Page. I will be interested to see how they react when the team on the other side of the field doesn't just "fall to pieces" at the sight of them :thumb:

Da Fish. You were on my list of keyboard experts that would not get suckered into a debate over strength of schedules between two teams that know each other well. If match-ups have no recent history between them then use what ever means you can justify. i.e. schedules, coaching, home team, weather, speed of H20 crew, etc., etc., etc. These two teams are very familiar with each other. There will be no surprises. Oh sure some new wrinkles but no rabbits out of the hat's. The BIGGEST advantage for Giles centers around the fact that now they know and believe that they can match DL stride for stride. I'm surprised that nobody has predicted that Giles would have trouble lasting 4 quarters. Was waiting on that one. No team anywhere is better conditioned than OC's. This group fought 4 quarters EVERY game as sophomores & juniors. Trust me. There is no quit anywhere from the head man to the H20 crew! :hungry:

Very true about the conditioning of the Bobcats. No one is in better condition. :thumb:

The thread is becoming what I had envisioned. Fans from both schools (and others) are pulling stats, facts and figures from numerous sources to tell us exactly what is going to happen Friday night. Giles County will win because they have more passing yardage. No wait, Lipscomb will win because they have played a tougher schedule. Pulaski is balanced and hungrier, but Lipscomb is game tested and has some kind of three headed monster, .... Where are Lee Corso and Lou Holtz when you really need them?

I once heard an old coach say, "It ain't about x's and o's. It's about Jimmies and Joes." Well, what do old coaches know about winning games? Blocking and tackling won't make much difference once the ball is kicked off on Friday in Pulaski. The real story will be, "It ain't about the shot gun or the wing-T. It's about what is written on Coach T."

Yeah, it is entertaining. I will have to compliment the majority of the posters. Most of you are refraining from making this personal and it seems to be in good fun. Setting the "I told you so's" aside, I know that when the game is over, the coaches and players will meet in the middle of the field, shake hands and display the great sportsmanship that both coaches expect. One side will be disappointed that a season has ended and the other will be sky high and ready to head into the quarterfinals. I hope the posters on this thread will show as much maturity as I have seen from both teams the last 4 years and that I expect to see again this Friday. Fans should get their money's worth.

Now for the most important question. How long of a wait will there be at the Hickory House Friday afternoon? Is there any use in trying it? It is one of my favorite places to eat in Middle Tennessee.

I posted earlier on this thread about some local favorites. Check any of them out. All are good.

I believe Giles & David Lipscomb fans for the most part have learned to respect each other over the last 4 years. Giles fans used DL as a bench mark as to where we wanted to be. DL fans have seen GC improve every year to the current status of a legitimate contender. Going to be a good one for sure. :hungry:

So what is your prediction?

Howdoitblow(and it blows hard) & Mikesinh+ll(cuz his former coaches couldn't make him a hero) The only thing DL supporters like the two of you are hanging your hat on is schedule. Neither team had any idea how good or bad the competition would turnout this year. Not due to any of the Bobcats fault did some of the teams on their schedule not live up to previous billing. So unless you Mustang Faithful can find something better to hang your hat on its gonna be a looooong friday night for you in Pulaski.
