EAST VS. WEST

At the risk of being accused of poo pooing this game, there definitely seems to be a "quietness" about the event that raises questions. I congratulate the girls playing and the effort someone has put forth, but it seems to be something done for those "in the know" and not the general senior high soccer world. An event like this should have been promoted on T and under development for more that a week. Why do we learn about it after the team is picked? IMO, some major players names are missing and they should have gotten the benefit of being called a High School Senior All-Star as well, even if they chose not to participate.

The game will be played by all senior girls who have been nominated by their district/regional chairperson to participate.

It is possible that the players chosen for this game were selected by people that actually viewed their play and made their selections based on performance. It is pretty clear that almost all of these teams of the players selected were in the state tournament. Just a thought.

Totally understand, but there are girls that play on the same teams with the girls on list that are missing and as good as, or better. That's the puzzling part???? Just asking for more info from someone who is part of the event to better understand the purpose an selection process. And why we aren't recognizing a larger group of seniors, even if they can't play. IMO, this is not the East vs. West all-star game, but an East vs. West game of very good players, some of which or most of which are all-stars, but all the State All-Star Seniors are not on the list or being recognized. Hitting the road, so it will be over before I can read T again. Just curious. :roflol:

I do know that at least one MVP was invited and could not make the game. I agree that all invited should be listed.

Agreed. All invited should be listed. Coaches have to nominate, only coaches that are members can nominate and so therefore many girls from other teams get overlooked. As far as comment about other girls that should have been invited, that is something that should be taken up with the coach from their team. If they were nominated by a coach other than their own then it is their opinion of what they have seen of that player either in a game against his/her team or information that they have. I say that to say that a player can be nominated by someone other than their coach who has seen them play so if in their opinion they deserved the invitation, they could receive it one of those two ways which is my understanding of how the program has worked. :roflol:

Math Time

120 High School Girls Team? (wild guess) 120 x 22 = 2,640 Players

25% Seniors (very conservative estimate) .25 X 2,640 -= 660 players

Top players guesstimate .25 x 660 = 165 players

Available slots - 2 teams of 18 2 x 18 = 36 players

1 of every 5 deserving players will be invited.

Doesn't seem far from the mark. The filter here seems not to be the lack of nominations bu tthe lack of participating coaches. Seems like your efforts would be better served by petitioning your coaches, not Coach T.

I was hoping to learn more about this event when I returned to T. I think Canes math speaks to my questions as to why this select group became the TN all-stars, and so many seem to have been omitted. I also think the lack of reporting suggests that only a hand full of folks cared, and they were in attendance. I guess they didn't find enough excitement to post the game story here.

Oh well, I hope the idea person behind this works harder next year, if there is a next year.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
