Purple, I see where you said Central lost to Ripley, so does that record count against the district record? I wouldn't think it would since they are in opposite divisions of the district. Not all teams will play the each other from opposite ends so I was just wondering how that works.

They play Ripley again...Covington twice and Haywood three times (once in a tournament that wouldn't count) but they don't play Crockett County at all...I would think those games would count in some way but then again this is the first year I have even really kept up with high school baseball...

games against Haywood, Ripley, and Covington do not count for district record because they are not in their division. Only games against Dyersburg, Westview, Milan, Gibson count. Not playing everyone really does not seem fair to the 4th and 5th place teams in the respective sides since 4 or 5 in one side could be better than a 3 in the other side.

Thanks for clearing that part up...

So they play separate tournaments...One for the North and one for the South...How many teams from each sub tournament advances to see who moves on to the regionals??... Do all the teams in the North Division play in the postseason tournament since there are 5 teams in the North but only four teams in the South ??

I'm with you though..In Central's case they play 40 games if they get them all in...They play everybody in the district in home and home series except Crockett County, who they don't play at all...Looks to me like they could drop a couple of those 1A schools and play Crockett and count all the games...Do all the teams in the district play the same type of district schedule??..Play everybody except one team??...

No not all teams have that type of schedule. Format for tourney will be 4 in the south plays 5 in the north for a play in game. Then you will format with a 8 team tourney playing at the higher seed until you reach the final 4 then they play this year in Millington at USA field and next year at Union City.

OC is missing #18 Weaks, Please update his current status?

He has been m-i-s-s-i-n-g from team the past week? No contact!

:D

He has been injured, chest cavity injury due to lifting weights for football...He is having further tests run this week for a possible hiatal hernia...He won't be with the team for the Tullahoma Invitational next weekend...We are all hoping the tests this week will reveal what his condition is so he can get back to playing ball...Right now, his doctor doesn't want him doing anything strenuous....He has been at the home games anyway....

The coaches know all about it...

Obion Central won both of their games today at the Haywood County Invitational.....

The Rebels beat the home team 13-2 and followed that up with a 10-0 victory over Bradford....Soph Colton Woodward pitched a 1-hitter as well as hitting a home run...Ethan Davis also hit a home run against the Red Devils...

OC improves to 10-12 on the year....

Next week is spring Break for the Obion County School System but hardly a break for the Rebel baseball team....The Rebels play a home and home series against a very strong Milan team on Monday (4/12) and Tuesday (4/13)..The Rebels then travel to Tullahoma, Tn to play in the Tullahoma Invitational Thursday (4/15) thru Saturday (4/17)

The Rebels are scheduled to play Lincoln County on Thursday....Gallatin and Tullahoma on Friday....Franklin County and Lebanon on Saturday......

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
