In my opinion, you have to have some movement but a lot of that starts with speed. Unless you pitch 65 mph or more, good batters can eventually time out a straight fast ball pitcher. If the pitcher can make the ball move up and down in the zone with drops and rise balls and throw in a good change up, that's very hard to hit, even at 55 compared to a 60mph fastball.
