bbb Posted April 18, 2010 Report Share Posted April 18, 2010 The Baylor girls’ tennis team defeated cross-town rival GPS, 28-27, to win the Patty Chadwell Invitational in Nashville this weekend hosted by Harpeth Hall. Maggie Crumbliss rallied to defeat Hannah Morrow, 5-7, 6-4, 6-4, in the final singles match to clinch the tournament title. Crumbliss was 3-0 in singles in the tournament also defeating Margaret Lowe (Harpeth Hall) and E. Valle (St. Agnes). Overall, Baylor was 18-6 in singles matches and 10-2 in doubles. Other highlights for Baylor was a singles triumph at No. 1 by Samantha Caswell against GPS 2009 state runner-up Sarah Evans, 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. Evans had beaten Caswell in the Chattanooga Rotary last weekend. At No. 1 doubles, Atrika Marschall-Sarah Berchuck defeated Evans-Bronte Goodhue. Dual Match: The two teams meet for the third time this season Tuesday at GPS at 4 p.m. in a non-region match. GPS won the Chattanooga Rotary title last weekend as Baylor was fourth. contact B.B.
