The Baylor School by the banks of the Tennessee River will be the host for the 7th Annual Tennessee-Georgia All-Star Football Classic on Saturday, June 12, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Tennessee leads the series 4-2 after a solid 31-14 victory in 2009 at Ridgeland High in front of more than 2,500 fans.

Former Grace Academy quarterback Josh Blake was named the game’s Most Valuable Player after finishing with nine carries for an All-Star Classic record 80 yards and one score while passing for 22 yards.

Former Boyd-Buchanan quarterback Nic Hughes took home Tennessee Player of the Game honors after going 10-of-22 in the air for 148 yards and two scores.

Ex-Ringgold linebacker Matt Talkington was the Georgia Player of the Game after recording seven tackles, a fumble recovery and a forced fumble.

The annual glitter game pits recent graduates from 12 counties in Southeast Tennessee against their counterparts from a dozen counties in Northwest Georgia and kicks off what has become known as “All Star Week” in the Tri-State area.

The nine-inning All-Star Baseball Classic will again be held at AT&T Field in Chattanooga on Monday, June 14 at 6 p.m.

The All-Star Basketball Classic will be held the following night, Tuesday, June 15, at Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga. The girls’ game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys’ game to follow. A 3-point shootout and slam-dunk contest will also be held.

Girls Preparatory School in Chattanooga will be the site for the All-Star Volleyball Classic on Thursday, June 17 at 7 p.m., while Frost Stadium in Chattanooga will host the All-Star Softball Classic — the oldest of the games — on Tuesday, June 22. The first seven-inning game of the doubleheader will start at 6 p.m.

In addition to the All-Star Classics, a baseball showcase game for north Georgia underclassmen will be held at Ridgeland on Wednesday, June 16 at 6 p.m.

The Chattanooga-area television show “Stump On Sports” puts on the All-Star Classics each year to promote the graduating seniors.

Host Stump Martin and the “Stump On Sports” crew recently celebrated their 25th year on television on May 21.
