It's a whole new ballgame when a receiver is crossing the middle during 7 on 7 versus real football.

It's also a different ballgame when the QB has to look over a massive line to see down field.

Remember 7 on 7 is glorified backyard football. Things change when pads are put on.

Not taking anything away from MUS, but I saw them at the Vandy 7 on 7 and they looked average against Ravenwood.

I have noticed teams during 7 on 7 pool play, play a lot of 2nd and 3rd teamers to rest the starters for tournament play. So having a good pool play record can be skewed some.

MUS will be fine when the real bullets start flying in the regular season. I do think that they will be in the mix for a third straight state title. We (Millington) open up with them in Week Zero at Christian Brothers. I will have sideline perspective on them after that one. We feel good about how our Spring and Summer have transitioned into fall camp. We are coming to Cbhs to win, but have all the respect in the world for Bobby Austin and his team. We hope to be included in the state championship discussion in the next few years.

Go Trojans!

I think it's great that Millington steps up and plays solid DII teams. "Iron sharpens iron" they say.

Thanks. Our Non League Schedule includes MUS, CBHS, and Lafayatte, MS. MUS is the 2 time defending state champ, CBHS is loaded and a traditional power, and Lafayette, MS made it to the State Semis in the state of MS's largest classification last year.

Actually, Lafayette,MS is in 4A in MS. MS goes up to 6A. Lafayette made it past the state semi-finals. They lost in the state championship game to St. Stanislaus. Lafayette is a good opponent for Millington. The Trojans obviously don't back down.

Thanks for the correction OmahaVol. The late season matchup with Lafayette should be quite the test.

    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
