IronHorse27
Should be another great year. Last year sent a team, Spring Hill, to the state championship game and another team was one game away from being at the state tournament. Giles had to come through the losers bracket to eliminate Marshall Co. in the district tournament. Hard to top that but I expect more success this year out of this district. Spring Hill is the front runner and will be tough again this year but they must replace some guys that played big roles on last years team. Giles and Marshall will also be competing at the top of the district. Giles will have to replace a lot of guys and I don't know of any pitchers that are returning that saw significant time on the mound last year. Marshall will return a good group from last year. The problem they must solve is how to replace Watkins and Chapman on the mound. They have a younger guy that threw hard last year and he should be good but after that I'm not sure. Not sure about Page but they have been in the top of the district in the past. They lost Gross who won them a lot of games last year and the number two guy was shaky. Hickman Co and Lewis County are in the middle of the district but could creep up towards the top. Both teams are capable of beating any of the teams at the top. Hickman because of the lefty. If he can throw strikes he will be tough and possibly shut somebody out. Lewis is scrappy. They will scrap and stay in the big game and give themselves a chance to pull it out. Fairview and East Hickman will be at the bottom. Prediction Spring Hill Marshall Co Giles Co Lewis Co Page Hickman Co Fairview East Hickman
HOOKEM
This should be a very competitive and fun season to watch. M.C is returning some very good players and all nine positions are solid and all the kids have plenty of playing time from this past season and this past summer. I'm sure all the haters will soon be out in force, but these kids have heard it since they were nine so I doubt it will bother them at all. Spring Hill and Giles County always reload and from what I watched last year some of the other teams were young and will benifit from maturity this year. Can't wait to watch these young men compete and send another rep. from our region to battle for a state title. Remember parent, You are too old to play , so sit in your chairs and let the young men enjoy the best times of their lives. Let's PLAY BALL !! 40n81
Spring Hill, lost a lot of offense but has good pitching and a lot of young talent. They have a lot of big arms! :!:Very balanced at pitching with righties and lefties. Has 2 big arms in schubert and usher!!! Has a lot of offense left in scaritt, schubert, prewitt ,ellis, usher, petty, bigler,an freshman prewitt has a lot of speed. Watch out for the raiders, Coach Lamm's train is rolling again this year. Maturing into one of the best young coaches in Middle TN. Coach Willie will be impossible to replace!!!! HCbaseballfan
Hickman returns a core group of juniors in Aaron Hays (CF/LHP), Kellen Beard (SS), and Blane Wright ©. Sophomore Ethan Owens (3B/P) played well as a freshman and hopefully continues to progress. Not very deep at the senior group, so several young kids are going to have to step up and fill the gaps in order for the Dawgs to compete this year. Several young arms will also see time on the mound, so how they handle the transition to varsity action will play a large part in whether or not the Dawgs are in games against the tough district competition. How about East Hickman? I know you guys have a new coach, so how are things looking on the other end of the county?
ballbasher30
I think this district will be as competitive, but not in the way as everyone thinks. The top three teams are so much better than the rest. Spring Hill, Marshall, and Giles will dominate the rest, with Page being an exception that might win one or two against this group. These top three teams will be competitive with each other. The rest are not very good which will amke for some interesting matchups. Page lost the one ace they had, and i was not overly impressed with their lineup last year. Lewis has Ammons, but that is pretty much it. not solid in pitching from last year, and most teams will not let one player beat them, so if the game is close Ammons will recieve the Barry Bonds treatment this year. The others, Hickman, Faiview, and East are all about the same talent wise. I think the difference in these teams will be experience and their coaching. Fairview only had one senior last year and return a decent defensive lineup but they can't score. they will probaly play a lot of close game and depend on their defense to win as they do not have any thing resembling a decent pitcher. East is East, and that says what you need to know. Stop me if you have heard this one before, but they have a new coach, who is young and in his first coaching job, who will add some discipline to the team that it needs. Seems like this is what eveyrone says about East at the start of every season, but then some parent or player gets mad and the coach is sent away. No wonder they have a hard time being competitive. Hickman is interesting. they didnt play very well most of last year, but do have some decent players coming back. they made an unbelievable come back in a game in the district tournament last year that they could build off of, but their defense was shaky at best last year and that could hurt their chances. So in my humble opinion, here is how i think the district finishes the regular seaosn: 1. Marshall County (13-1) splits with SH, sweeps all others 2. Spring Hill (12-2) splits with MC and GC, sweeps the rest 3. Giles County (11-3) splits with SH, swept by MC, sweeps the rest 4. Lewis County (7-7)splits with Page, swept by MC, SH, GC, sweeps the rest 5. Page(7-7) splits with LC, swept by MC, SH, GC, sweeps the rest 6. Hickman County (4-10)sweeps Fairview and East, loses the rest 7. Fairview (2-12)sweeps East, loses the rest 8. East Hickman (0-14)tough year for new coach with not a lot of talent
