12AA Tournament

It all cranks up tonight. Lewis is the clear favorite here, but HC is still the defending district tournament champs from 2010. It's been an up and down season for the Lady Dawgs with a lot of freshmen seeing significant playing time and roles. They played well last week with a win over East Hickman and a close loss to Perry County, so hopefully that springboards them into the tourney. The big question is how will these new faces respond in pressure situations? I'm sure Barrett's old buddy Judkins will have some tricks up his rolled up sleeves tonight for the Lady Dawgs. Should be a good one in the 'burg. I'm predicting a close win here for Barrett's Brigade. Any other thoughts and predictions from the other games?

You were right. Much closer in the 'burg than the final score indicates .... HC 54 MC 41. As far as the freshman go, Hannah Pendergrass dropped 25 and Ginger Conder defended Harwell in excellent fashion. Harwell had 23 but not one 3-point field goal which in and of itself is a remarkable accomplishment for a freshman guarding a seasoned Senior veteran. I think that goes without saying how they responded in that pressured situation. In addition to Hannah and Ginger, Barrett has 3 other talented freshman which bodes well for the Lady Dawg future. HCHS Lady Dawgs now take on Lewis Co on Friday afternoon at 4. Certainly ought to be an interesting matchup especially considering the fact that "Barrett's Brigade" will be playing on their home floor. They will need all the advantages they can get if they have hopes of winning over the Lady Panthers who swept HCHS during the regular season. As most folks know, anything can happen in the post-season. I dare say there is more parody in District 12AA girls division than any district around. Would not be huge surprise to see any of the teams left (Page, Fairview, Lewis or Hickman) take the crown at weeks end. Only time will tell.

    • Sorry Barn. I wasn’t specific enough. It seems I’m always protecting the principal at 825. My interactions with her have been extremely positive, but very limited. With all the other stories being told, I’m confident there are other sides I am not aware of. Regardless, there are lots of decent people earning good checks up there. Maybe too good, which explains why no one is willing to speak up. My beef is with the poor communication among the athletic programs and with the administration. Seven years ago the poor communication led to my son missing graduation due to a sporting event that was planned months before. I chalked it up to the system being totally shocked that the baseball team made it out of their district, and our then AD was a football coach. Maybe they were surprised and did not plan appropriately. That was more palatable than they just didn’t give a crap. Déjà vu, seven years later, same thing. Different administration, but same result.  Maybe in seven more years, it will actually be “about the kids”. They should do better.
    • That's a fair line. But if it's not over, that's a big problem.
    • RR, you think that changes this year, or at least improves? I know they had a couple of talented young receivers last year that made some plays later in the year. Defensive back was a struggle against any team that was above average at throwing the ball.
    • You would think they got a bunch of interest
    • You would think with football just three months away more would be talking. There's only so much a person can say about someone allowing the field to get painted without asking their boss who would have said ((((((((  ALE NO ))))))))) or all the other BULLS#!T they've done as they lead Maryville High into the new age of WOKE in a conversative town. I'm ready for some football news without hearing something coming out of 825 that Power Munger has done to cap off the week.
