To quote a few of the coaches from many different states, "This was one of the best tournaments we have ever been to". The Play It Again Sports Tournament in Clarksville this past weekend was a great success. Creek Wood beat Ballard in the Gold Championship game and Station Camp wins over Crockett County in the silver. With 44 teams total the tournament had great weather and 2 wonderful parks to play in. Below is the complete Gold Pool series and single elim tournament.

Thanks again to all of the teams, coaches and fans. A special thanks to the umpires and Buddy Forrest also. To the city and county recreation depts, great job.

Enjoyed the tournament, but as in everything there could be improvements. A few suggestions for next year would be to make sure the fields are properly set up and maintained for the games (ex. pitching rubber at proper footage, correct size for batter's box and pitcher circle, and maintanence in between games)and also that ALL umpires are on the same page with the rules set up for the tournament. I know we were cut short on time in one game and it was a close game where 6 minutes could have made a difference. A direct quote from an umpire was "well, we are playing an hour 10 regardless of what the paper says". Other than that, we enjoyed our time and were happy to play against some fine teams.

Thanks for your input Coach. The rule for the tournament was a time limit of 1 hour and 15 minutes with no new inning to start after 1 hour and 10 min. The last part was left off of the printed sheet that the coaches received and that has been addressed. Since this is a new complex and the 1st time the County has hosted a tournament of this size, there were some issues with the fields. The lining of the outfields, pitching distances and dragging of the fields have all been addressed and will be in order next year. But as far as the teams at the Civitan Complex, I don't think I have seen that many good evenly matched teams at any tournament I have ever attended. Thanks again for coming and your input.

    • One school has said it, it was York…who Oneida and many school that played them before we did claimed that they were the dirtiest bunch they’ve played. Riverside didn’t call us dirty nor did smith after they beat us. Ur only dirty if your the one giving out the whoopins.
    • If it was anyone but #8 I would agree with you. Theirs a couple people on that team that probably would. Not him. And I who was standing on the 1st base line fence saw clearly that the boys foot was covering more than half the bag.
    • If y’all lose to Farragut something awful has happened.
    • Get him to Bearden ASAP! Or anywhere, Karns hs is in rough shape, probably not getting out of it anytime soon.
    • I'm not a Powell grad.  I am a Bearden grad.   My son and daughter are Powell grads.   I did radio play by play for Powell, my last year was 2013. I also did radio play by play for South Doyle, and my last gig was at Maryville before I retired.   My oldest grandson plays in the Karns Middle program, so I see more Karns games than I do Powell these days.  I've been to 3 Powell games since 2013.   I don't have any ties to Powell, haven't since 2013.   No "y'all" there.    And the kid you are talking about does have a very good arm, but he's not the QB that Deuce Rogers is.  Rogers is a legit dual threat guy.  The younger kid now at Clinton, or about to be at Clinton, isn't the dual threat that Rogers is.
