AAA State Tournament Contenders

State qualifiers from each sectional since 2007 and favorites to make the 2011 AAA tournament as we head into post season district tourneys.......

Region 1/2

Science Hill ('10,'08,'07) and Farragut (('10 Champ,'09 Champ,'08 Champ)

Only other team to go to state from these regions is South Doyle ('07). District 3 has no qualifiers.

SH and Farragut again would not be going out on a limb. Norris is the real deal. Jeff Co, Seymour, Halls, and Powell could spring an upset.

Region 3/4

Cleveland ('09,'07), Bradley ('07) and Coffee County ('10) from R3

Blackman ('09) Oakland ('08) Smyrna ('07) Columbia ('10) from R4.

Soddy Daisy, Cookeville, Siegel, Riverdale, Columbia, and Tullahoma look to be the contenders here, although I do not know much about SD and Cookeville. Siegel has qualified for one of the D7 R4 spots by winning the regular season title.

Region 5/6

Mt Juliet ('10,'09 R/U,'08), Clarksville ('10) from R5

Franklin ('07) Indy ('09) Ravenwood ('08), - all D11 - from R6

Rossview, MJ, Indy, and John Overton look to be the teams to beat here. Ravenwood, Wilson Central, others?

Region 7/8

Bartlett ('09,'08 R/U, '07 Champ), Arlington ('08) from D14 R7

Collierville ('10, '09) Houston ('10 R/U, '07), from D15 R8

Houston's post season ban would keep them out unless they win the appeal ... then they are the favorite with the usual cast of characters plus Germantown.

So what do yo think?

    • Yes this process is moving slower than I would have expected
    • also was told coady auston applied, he served as defensive coordinator for greenfield under don pitt several years ago before going to Obion county
    • TSSAA restrictions for hiring non-faculty coaches have been removed for over a year at this point. In the past a non-faculty person had to be "grandfathered" by being an assistant coach for five years, being fingerprinted, and having a background check run per TSSAA rules... since those were rescinded, the board of directors for the school district are responsible for any/all restrictions on hiring non-faculty personnel. I guess what I'm saying to you is that if you really wanted what you posted, it's already possible as long as your local BOE will allow for it.
    • stop it, rlh. you’re gonna get me all misty eyed and sentimental.    i see seven fairly regularly. ….but slim shady, that’s like spotting bigfoot on main street. you just hope he doesn’t spot you.
    • Are you trying to say you didn't find Seven and ShadySlim going at it?
