PHargis
Tennessees Middle School's tryouts for the upcoming Volleyball Season usually is the week after Middle School is out for the 2010 school year. For those Middle School players and Coaches, it is the official start of preparing for the 2011 School Year Season. Check with the MSTSSAA Rules for those schools who join the organization for the 2011 season. It spells out dead periods and practice times for the new season. As with other years, there are some Very large Tournaments throughout the State during the upcoming season. While dates have not been published for the upcoming year, those of note that were had last year were at Karns and Cumberland University in Lebanon, both having a large number of schools attending. There are others in the State that likely were as large as those two. Preseason Tournaments are generally held the first part of August. Clinics are held by Universities and Colleges thru the State as well as some other schools after the dead period in July. The enrollment in age groups 12 and 13 in summer Volleyball Programs was high this year meaning upcoming play for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders with be high again this year with the continued interest in the sport. Those having an interest should check with your school to see when tryouts are scheduled.
