How 'bout this?

OK, this isn't really a new idea, others have had something similar.

Let's start a new division.

Let's call it the "Ultimate League"(I know, it makes me laugh too, but bear with me :) ).

This league is strictly voluntary.

There are 'requirements', as in a country club.

Requirements: Have won at least two state titles at any level (old 3A or DII, whatever).

The teams that choose to participate in this league will be divided only by small and large, no 'financial aid' or all that crap. Just winners, big or small.

Now this list isn't wouldn't be large, especially if only a few teams were interested.

Here are the teams (the best I can tell) that meet the current requirement. You tell me if you think this could be a fun league to watch.

Brentwood Academy

Oak Ridge

Dobyns Bennett

Chattanooga Central(do they still exist?)

MBA

Maryville

BGA

Alcoa

Trousdale Co.

Marion Co

Milan

Knoxville High

Riverdale

Lincoln Co

Gallatin

Cleveland

Austin East

Loudon

Goodpasture

Sweetwater

South Pittsburg

ECS

Bradley Central

Jackson

Oakland

Father Ryan

Tennessee

Pearl-Cohn

Melrose

Webb

Donelson Christian

and Lake County

That's exaclty 32 teams, perfect for two divisions.

Or we could just go with one league and still have eight to twelve teams qualify for the playoffs without it being a "joke".

So really, who wouldn't like to see Riverdale, Maryville, BA, MBA, Gallatin,Oakland, Trousdale Co., and Oak Ridge in the playoffs together?

A lot of DII folks complain about the championship "not meaning much", because of so few teams in the division.

This championship would be for ultimate bragging rights.

And some of these match-ups could really bring in some tickets!

Whatta ya think?
