TheMasheen
Against the porous Franklin defense, The Cougars might score ........... 7 .......... while the Rebels put up 28. Rector needs a couple of years. Franklin scoring 28 against Centennial might be a stretch too....in Centennials direction. Hendersonville most likely has a better defense than Centennial, and the Rebels managed to score 41 points in the second half against them. Also, in the coming weeks look for the Rebels defense to improve, as many of the younger players as well as older players coming back from injuries last year (two starters tore their ACLs last season) start to get more experience and get the ability to play full speed back. Although not many would agree at this point, having given up 70 points the past two weeks, I think the Rebels Defense has the personnel to definitely be a top tier defense by the end of the regular season going into the Postseason. let's not forget Clayton's teams are notorious for beings low starters in the first 4 or 5 games of the season before really finding their form. thepylon
The big question for the rebels this year is going to be defense. I think most will agree that things just haven't been the same since Donny Webb left. A lot of the intensity that was there when he was is gone. If they can learn to wrap up and the secondary doesn't let as many big plays happen, I think the rebels will be a dominant team this year. If we see more of the same, the offense is going to have to keep scoring in the 40s and 50s, which they are completely capable of, especially if dropped balls are eliminated a good deal. That defense has several good players that are capable of great things as a unit, it's just a matter of whether or not they push themselves to their full potential. Right now, this team doesn't really look like they want it until the mid to late second half. When they do show that desire, this team is extremely productive. If we can see them show up for the whole ball game, it's going to be quite the task for anyone to beat them.

Our defense was fine last year and inFACT it was pretty darn good! I think with as many players as we have back that someone needs to get them in the right spot and lets get to playing Rebel Defense. All I know is your so called "hasn't been the same" has been average at best at his new place. I think I remember a few teams scoring nearly 70 in one game. Get with the team pylon and quit trying to cause problems!
fbforme
Taco irritates me as well, but you can look at retiredtothebleachers posts and see that he posts almost exclusivly in the private threads. And he did hand you your backside in your little debate with him. And I am not Taco either. And I want Franklin to win against H'ville as well. And they should. The Commandos lost a huge chunk of their state finals team. you are taco

I agree with te fact that the defense will come around, they have too many talented players off a group that was very strong last year to not succeed. The coaches are just looking to find the right scheme right now, hopefully they can figure it out by Smyrna week. But I have to disagree with you on your comment about Donnie. Donnie Webb is a phenomenal defensive mind (in addition to being on of the nicest people you will ever meet) and any program that loses some one of his caliber will definitely be affected. That is not to say Franklin can not have a great defense without him (which I think they will have by season's end), but losing him was definitely a blow to the Rebels. TheMasheen
So how about the Rebels defense finally showing up all 4 quarters?
thepylon
So how about the Rebels defense finally showing up all 4 quarters? What a pleasure that was to watch. Now if the D and O can both play at peak performance it's going to be even more fun to watch!
