Somewhere this game has gotten lost between all the GHS WGHS hoopla. I think this may be a very good game this year. Cumberland Gap has seem to improve week to week and are coming off the bye week where they probably have healed some minor injuries. Chuckey Doak, I still think is better and will win this one, not with ease, but by a safe margin.

I tend to agree with you bud. I'm not sure about CG's injury situation, so I couldn't tell you who will be back and who won't. I do know that I expect to see a good game from CG this week. They are in desparate need of a win if they want to get back in the playoff hunt. I've heard CD is pretty good this year and it's at CD so it'll definitely be a tough one. But I think CG realizes what's at stake here and come out hard. This may come down to the wire and I expect a good hard fought game. :thumb:

I actually feel pretty good about this game for CG. They suffered through a 3 game losing streak and then had the bye week. Maybe they got their heads together and will come in prepared on Friday. I know CG's defense has looked pretty bad as of late, but I've been to almost every game, and if you take away some of those big plays by opposing teams, then CG is right in every game. The inability to score as of late and turnovers is what has been hurting CG the most and their defense has had to play way too many snaps. If CG can put some points on the board and get things rolling on their side then this could be a very winnable game for the panthers. :thumb:

CD had a good team last year on the Offensive side but lacked quite a bit on the defensive side of the ball. Now this year they have a much improved D. I do recall looking at last years Points allowed to points allowed this year. And CD has cut that margin in half this year with good D. The offense is still very productive. I just wish they would throw the ball more than run it in certain points in the game the QB for CD has a very accurate arm not a deep ball throwing but good in 5 to 25 yard range let him pass a little more and that will open the running game more by doing so. I think CD will win this game 28-17 and i hope too see a good game between CD and GHS cause i do think those two teams will have the same record going into the game. GO CD :)

Have you ever looked at the fact that the beef of Chuckey Doak's schedule has not come up yet. Some of the teams that scored points on CD's defense last year are still yet to come and could make the points allowed average go up. Greeneville will score points on them, West Greene has a high powered offense and South Greene and Chuckey Doak always seem to battle. Not to say that these teams will make the average go up a lot, but they will have a better chance to score than Unaka, Unicoi County, Cosby, and others.

Well if you were to look at the schedule from last year they played the same exact teams so far that they did last year. And the points allowed on them were terrible. And yes the beef of the schedule is coming up but i think CD will beat WG and SG but i think they will lose to greeneville thats pretty much a given :)

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
