Blackman at Brentwood

Who wins? Does the I-Train play? Anybody with info, spit it out.

Smyrna beat Brentwood, Blackman beat Smyrna so thus Blackman whips Brentwood right?

Brentwood is a good team. Still have the big fullback that is a load to bring down. If Mathers doesn't play could be a tough night for BHS. Brentwoods QB has a nice arm, and the wing offense is always tough. I think Blackman wins this one as much as I hate to say it.

This will be an 'interesting' match up. Is Shad smart and totally rest the I train and let the little train pull the load this week? Will he continue to develope his QB for the playoffs.

While this is not R'dale, Coach Crawford DOES know defense and how to teach Safetys how to play against the pass. Will not be let them come off the line clean and catch it, then tackle, like it was last week. Crawford knows how to jam receivers on the line of scrimmage to give his D line and LBs time to get to the QB.

Does Blackmans O-line continue to jell and make plays like they did last week?

So many questions that the Stork could ask the Coach this week for y'alls little interview.

Blackman wins this one, but it could be a close one. Brentwood is better than most think right now and the experience all their yourng players have gained will make a difference.

The real interesting matchup in Williamson will be the Brentwood-Franklin game. I'm putting early odds on Brentwood.

Here is the kicker about this game. Blackman is in the playoffs but Brentwood has not locked a spot at 5-3. Still need to win one of there two remaining games to ensure that. They have this game and Franklin next week. Neither game is a sure win for the Bruins. If Mathers doesnt play this would be the game I say Brentwood would be extra inspired to win rather than the Franklin game. I know Franklin is thier rival. But I also think Franklin is slightly better than Brentwood. A Mathersless Blaze is inspiring to anyone. Not wishing any ill will on the young man but I will be glad when he graduates and shreds the field at the next level. Without Mathers it does even the playing field a bit. But Blackman is still the better team regardless. Should make for an interesting match up. 31-17 Blackman.

    • I have no affiliation with Maryville anymore outside of being a 2nd generation graduate from a large family of Rebel alumni. That relationship ended courtesy of the lame duck AD (a Bearden grad I might add) and the HBIC. That said, I could care less if a private school comes through and offers every promising athlete out of that school or any other school better opportunities.
    • A perfect example is for athletes at Clinton High School. I will completely understand, and hopefully everyone should understand why they want to, and as of right now, it looks like that’s going to happen in numbers over the summer.
    • I mean, that’s easy to say when it hasn’t happened to your school that often, if at all, but yeah, I think everybody should be for the student athlete or player. Whatever they think will help them or their athletic career, I feel like they should be able to do that, even if that means transferring schools. Now I don’t really get that when you have almost every offer you could want and then jump ship, but what can I say? I guess money talks.
    • I for one am all for it.
    • Covid killed the city because they chose not to play football in the 2020 season. Therefore, kids weren't able to practice and develop, and continuing to lift weights. Memphis basically had 7/8 graders, skipping a year, then playing 9/10 high school football. Now, there's only one team that has made a "dent" which will be Southwind (made it to the 5A semifinals last year).  If you want to go more suburbs, then it'll be Houston, which won the 6A state title, defeating Oakland Other than that, I agree.
