CBHS defeats #31 ranked Blue Springs (KC Mo) 35-18

CBHS won a large victory over #31 ranked Blue Springs in the finals of the CBC Gateway to the Best Duals. Blue Springs jumped out to an early 19-9 lead in the dual, but CBHS scored 26 unanswered points to get the win. Tate Robinson revenged his earlier loss to Daniel Lewis, who won the KC Midwest Classis, 7-5 in OT.

Actually Blue Springs was ranked 30th in the nation. Watching the match from my hotel room in IL had me jumping up and down and screaming throughout.

 

Daniel Lewis had pinned Tate in the quarter-finals at the Kansas City Classic and then went on to win the tournament. Knowing that Lewis likes the cradle ride and works a step-over cradle made the difference as Robinson was able to avoid the big move and scored 3 or 4 takedowns on his way to the win. A couple of questionable stalling calls was all that sent the match into OT but Robinson sealed the match with a solid takedown. Very nice win for him.

Looks like some great wrestling, I wish that Christian Brothers had a chance to wrestle Mater Dei, but it seems that everyone got plenty of tough matches this weekend anyway

Looks like CBHS will be doing their best Jeffersons impression as they move on up the national rankings. Congratulations to Coach Lewis and company. According to the InterMat Fab50 Blue Springs has also moved up from #31 to #30. Does anyone know what factors are taken into account when ranking high school teams? Just curious as to why CBHS would remain 10 spots behind Blue Springs after beating them in a dual.

The Intermat Fab50 rankings have not been updated yet. You are looking at the old rankings (Blue Springs was ranked 30th before the match). I believe that new rankings are due out today.
