Sloppy....not precise. I guess 16-18 year olds can look increadible at times and then look a little unsure at times. DB did not play like they did in the first 2 games....with the exception of Cooks deep passes, Foremans fantastic TD cathes and Swafford.... Devon Swafford was amazing!!! His TD runs of 76 and 45 yards were spectacular, and the punt return TD was so good you cant describe it.

Hats off to South, which is a better team than Greeneville, Farragut and Clinton. The Rebles will win some games this year. They were well prepared and never quit. Punched DB's defense in the mouth on the last drive of the first half and racked up over 250 yds of offense.

The "deep passes" were nothing more than throwing the ball up and letting the receiver make a play. One "deep pass" was thrown right at the 2 south defenders playing deep...easy int. There was no Zip or accuracy to many balls all night that I saw...a decent defending team will tear DBs passing "attack" down and once again it will all be on the running game to make a play. I'm not sure which game you were at but that's what I saw and I stood beside 2 sevier county scouts and I guarantee that's what they saw. The passing game is woeful on both sides of the ball.

I'm pretty sure South would beat Clinton and I don't know how good Morristown West is,but the Devils improved from their first game and that might be a tough matchup for South. If South is better then Farragut however,a team that gave Oak Ridge all they wanted and DB beat 42-14,then the Tribe has greatly improved with an easy 56-13 win last night.I'll have to say Farragut would whip South.I just don't see the Rebs playing toe to toe with Oak Ridge

I'd have to say your right. But im not sure if it was just a bad night for Cook or what. He didn't throw enough in the first two games to give us anything to compair with. We'll see for sure next week because we'll have to have alot more than just Swafford. Everybody knows what the problem is on the other side of the ball but their not going to do anything to correct it.

If Cook can hit on a couple of long passes each game and not turn it over, that may be enough to keep our running game rolling. We have not talked about how good Cook ran the option last night,I thought he done a great job and that is DB's bread and butter. In the passing game, you have to do enough so really good teams will not sit in the box like DB tried to do and got burned on a play or two last night. Each player has to know who has what man and if they have help as well,DB played a bunch of guys in the secondary and several on the front and linebackers. On the short touchdown,I think Souths QB had or made himself just enough time for his receiver to break over from our safety,I think he gave a little pump fake to boot.It was just a good play and would have been hard for most anyone to defend one on one. This will be a test coming up,and when SC makes a play, our guys have to let it go and keep playing because we are going to make plays and put the heat on SC's defense as well.Keep working guys, your 3-0 and just beat one of the two teams that DB never wants a loss to by 56-13.That's a 43 point win and you played most everyone.Roll Tribe

i've been hearing alot of prase for the South football team, especially on the radio during the game last night. I just don't see it though. Their ok for a upper east tn. team but thats about it. They had 2 weeks to prepare for this one game, DB had 3 days. DB probably played their worst game in 2 years, and still won 56-13, and it could of been worse. The first South TD was a give me. South will probably go 6-4 and lose in the first round to whoever they play. Sorry but thats just the way it is.

Hmmm....you're a lot more optimistic about things down the road than I am. After last night I'm not sure those "ifs" can be done. They could not do it against a good (not great) team. And they can't continue to rely on ifs to get the job done. if they can't hit anything deep (which I have doubts) then they need to add something short to mid range to get the playmakers the ball. I did like the addition of #6 at QB with his skills...just not sure this coaching staff will use it for more than a decoy. I think it could be a great weapon. And I believe #8 needs more than 8 touches a game. I'm not a big fan of the socialist offense...everybody gets to share in the wealth. There are some special talents on this team...I just think there are some glaring deficiencies that they have the athletes to correct and an average South team exploited them last night for the rest of the teams on the schedule to see....and I think it will come to a head next week against the Smoky Bears. There is no excuse for South to go down the field on a 19 play drive. And there were south receivers running wide open all night. If they wouldn't have missed/dropped so many passes it would have been an even uglier stat to behold the yards they potentially could have piled up through the air. Even the south radio guys were befuddled how they could be so wide open. I agree with Waco, this South team is decent to good but there was nothing magical about what they were doing (but then again how many times have we experienced that...McMinn county anyone?). Let's be honest...this is a team that is on the edge of dropping down in classification. Everything is gumdrops and lolipops for some on here...I just believe there are way too many over inflated balloons that will be popped coming up. Maybe that is what the DB fans have accepted.

Very good post. You are 100% correct and nobody can argue with what you say. You'll probably get attacked for "jumping on the kids" or "hurting someones feelings" or they'll say "if you know so much how come your not the coach". Yada yada yada. You can bet on one thing. It won't take Sevier Co. 19 plays to move down the field. Try 2 or 3 plays. They figured out at halftime last year how to stop DB's pass rush, which is the only pass defense we have. We won't change a thing.

I agree with most of what maroonandgrey said. There is a lot of work to do and yes you have to get Swafford the ball as much as possible. He and Foreman play for most of the game and they have to get rest here and there as well.A big problem we don't need is Nick having to play both ways and not blowing up the offensive front by being tired. How maroon called out the players and talked about their good qualities and chose not to pick on any numbers is just the way I myself would rather write it.I could pick on any number of guys for missing blocks or holding or tackles, but that's what the coaches have to do in the film room.Like I've said,we all just have different styles, but in the end we want this team to be a perfect winning machine

What makes me so mad is, here we have this great team, great offense, great athletes, capable of at least going deep into the playoffs, and we're going to throw it all away because we can't coach the defensive backfield. These players have worked their butts off to get where they are. Its not fair to them and its not fair to the fans. Im not saying anybody is a bad person. Im saying somebody is laying down on their job. We used to be good back there. Now we're a joke. We have some of the fastest talented players in the state playing pass defense and we have receivers running wide open all night, no matter who we're playing. I haven't heard a coach yet address that we even have a problem in the secondary. What we're getting ready to see next week is one of the best passing teams in the state go up against on of the worst pass defense teams in the state. It ain't gonna be pretty and when its all over there still won't be a change made. Mind boggeling!

I will be a whole lot more worried when the playoffs get here if our young guys all over the field are not ready.I hope Sevier County shows everything they have and let the chips fall next week.If however were not ready when it counts the very most,I'll be pretty upset myself.I like this team and think they will come along by playoff time{if they can stay healthy} Edited by BatmanDB
