Hillcrest vs Covington

Coach Wheeler will have his team ready every week; he won't slack off, and the boys won't get the big head. Coach knows that anything can happen in a football game and takes nothing for granted. If anything, he will work them harder! I hope and pray that we make it to state and bring the gold ball to the West! As far as being disrespected....it just makes them work harder! People need to remember that our second and third string have done a very good job during the third and fourth quarters of a lot of games this season! The boys will be ready for whoever they play! They'ge got the skill, strength, talent, and heart to bring the gold ball home! CHARGERNATION!

Don't expect nothing less for the chargers than to keep playing like they have been all season long. The whole town of Covington is behind this football team just like they always have been because Covington knows how to WIN & aren't use to loosing!! I hope the Chargers can bring bak to gold ball to west Tennessee. Go Chargers!!!

It's a great time of year. Playoff football. Loser goes home and the last team standing gets the Gold Ball.

I remember all kinds of playoff games over the years. Every one was exciting. Our Charger team will be fired up, but will also be well prepared. With a deep playoff run last year and Coach Wheeler's playoff experience with Covington as an assistant in the early 2000's, I think they will have what it takes to advance.

But, talk is cheap. Bring 'em on and lets see how it shakes out between the white lines on Friday nights.

As a Dyersburg fan, I am upset with the situtation that Dyersburg has been put in. With that being said, I would rather Covington go deep in these playoffs than say, Mitchell or Fairly. I think Dyersburg can get past Trezevant, and with playing quality football and a little luck might can get past Mitchell. I would love to see a Covington vs Dyersburg rematch!!

Cov 14-0 before you set down... Why do these teams make the playoffs. Hillcrest(4-6 record) and only scored 6 pts total in their last three regular season games combined. Playoffs aren't watered down( it's only 8 state champions) used to be three& should really only be one. Hillcrest probably the worst team Cov has played all yr and next week won't be any better. Cov basically has two byes. Most of the other 4A teams actually have viable opponents & risk getting beat. Make it 21-nothing

Why is Hilcrest here? Shouldn't be in the freakin playoffs..4-6 record, the 4 wins were against 4 opponents with a combined record of 5-35. Hilcrest last three game scores L 38-6, L 38-0, L 39-0, were shut out last two regular season games. Why are they in the playoffs and many other well deserving schools left out? System suks. Teams they beat were the worst in Tn with records of 1-9,3-7,1-9 and 0-10. Great playoff system Tssaa. Should be some refunds distributed.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
