State AAA Girl's Tournament

Did anyone else go to the girl's AAA State Tournament this past weekend? Not to be snotty, but I thought the competition was the poorest that I have ever seen at that level. None of the teams looked as strong as what has been there before. Has girl's soccer gone to the dogs over the last couple of years? Just wondering.

Whitey, careful to judge based on such a snapshot of play,

although it should be an indicator.....not really the best.

 

As you know, soccer is a very unusual game, anything can

happen...every game is a new game....the variables impacting the game are incredible......very seldom will you

see a great game in the semis or finals, my opinion, cause

of the pressure and the team tactics and the injuries incurred throughout the season.

 

Personally, I think you saw in the last couple of years the

beginning of soccer's growth and improvement across the state........starting this year and in future years, you

will see more "impact players" on individual teams that will

elevate the level of play....especially where club soccer is

strong, ie Franklin HS, Centennial HS.....Brentwood will decline in stature, Ravenwood will be okay....

 

I believe the girls need to go to an eight team play off,

otherwise you will potentially never see the two best teams

in the state finals, one will be eliminated at the regional

level.

 

Hang on to your hat, there are some awesome kids coming up

for the next eight years, but you'll only see them in the

finals with an 8 team play off.
