Morristown West Camp Information! June 3-7, 10am-2pm. Due to scheduling conflicts we will be holding camp at West View this year (1 Indian Path, Morristown, TN 37813). We have some amazing clinicians, with many years of experience and wins, coming in to work with our wrestlers! Monday, Edward Morrell, Tuesday, Tyler Johnson, Wednesday, Don Elia and Nicholas Shields, Thursday, Corey Manson and Friday, Todd Worley! That's a lot of talent and knowledge for only $55! Wrestlers, grade 1-12 are eligible! Please call Coach Rudd (423-307-0652) to pre-register or with answer any questions you may have.

 

 

 

*Monday-Edward Morrell--Head control to takedown from both offensive and defensive positions. And I'll generally work their butts into the ground.

Eddie is a Fargo champion, 3x Southeast Region Champion, Ohio State Champion and a 2x State runner-up. Coach Morrell is Elizabethton wrestling coach and Tennessee Pride Wrestling Freestyle/Greco coach.

 

*Tuesday-Tyler Johnson--hand fighting, front headlock, basic takedowns and finishes.

Tyler Wrestles at Newberry College. Placed third at State, a two time region champion won outstanding wrestler at 2011 regions. Tyler is also a four time state qualifier and a Virginia Beach qualifier.

 

*Wednesday-Don Elia and Nic Shields

Coach Elia in the former Carson Newman Wrestling Coach (1978-2009) and is the current wrestling coach at ETSU. Nicholas is an outstanding wrestler from ETSU.

 

*Thursday-Corey Manson Cornell Warm-up

-Technique: High Leg series on top

-Technique: top break downs to get into high leg series

-Live: wrestling in this situation

-Break

-Warm up: more live in the high leg situation

-Technique: Mis-direction shots (very high level but want to show this for guys like Griffyn - will make it learnable for the lower skilled guys too)

-Live

Corey is a 4X state finalist and 2x State Champion for Baylor HS, four year starter for Cornell and D1 NCAA qualifier, NWCA College academic All American, and a FILA Junior All American.

 

*Friday-Todd Worley--Review for the week. Live wrestling.

Todd coaches at Hixon High School and won 3rd at state in 2008 in the 215 lb weight class.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams. 
    • What do we need to do to help with Mr. Basketball?  
    • With June camps right around the corner, how are programs looking, reloading, any notable underclass coming in?
