I could be wrong and have been before but I think those of you taking G-Town over the Trojans may be really surprised at the outcome.

Good question. One to which I don't have an answer. My guess is the lack of numbers at the school is playing a big part. I've heard that Carver is a school that is being considered for closure and those who attend will be assigned to go to BTW. That also may have something to do with it. Those are just guesses on my part.

Thank you kwc and good luck Whitehaven. It would be a pleasure to meet up for a gold ball again.

Carver numbers are very low. I remember when it would be our biggest league game. I really hate they are closing the Memphis schools (Westwood, Carver, and Northside). Combining Westwood with Mitchell and Carver with BTW will be a serious challenge. Both sets of schools are serious rivals.

If this is your first time ever reading this thread, I will explain how this works. Each week I will select games that I think are big games that invovle a City of Memphis high school, or a team from the Memphis area. We take those games and select who we think will win. We tabulate the scores and keep up with it throughout the regular season. We do the same for the post season as long as there a school from the area participating in the post season. It's fun. Join us.

I never have any luck with those Small Private school games, kwc! LMAO... I truly underestimated East. Good win! I thought the coaching change at Westwood would of had a negative effect on them early in the season. Guess not. Good win!

    • One final thought. Coach Keith claims he was not aware of the player's failing grades. I won't comment on that, just to say this, IF he did not, whose job was it to see that this kid did not play ball at CHS? That person should be looking for a job and they might be, I don't know.
    • They have fired the principal, 2 teachers, at least 1 counsellor and 1 coach so far. I don't see it from my view in Oak Ridge as a coach thing, he  was just implicated in asking 1 teacher to  fix 1 kid's grades.   In our local media(Clinton and Oak Ridge)the principal is who is the originator and pusher of the fraud. The others are peripheral. The coach isn't even the big story, just here on a sports site.  The media view is the principal did it to cause CHS to be seen as excellent by the state. He committed fraud to do that so he might spend a little time in jail IF that is valid.
    • And from coach himself, he wasn’t told he was let go because of the ineligible player.    that’s just what the schools needed to happen to fit their bull
    • Wish it was made clear before a coach gets let go or not retained instead of being sold as the reason he was in trouble. I was told the kids who got grades changed, 97% or better were non athletes but the coach is taking all the heat so the schools can pretend it wasn’t their job to know. heck, what do you think could happen when you hire husband and wife as head principal and head guidance….   that’s not being said though…
    • Hmmmmm……doe dee doe doe.  Last time I came up there to watch my pirates one of those guys in that pickup trucks flattened the tires on the lawnmower.  This is payback.  You can bet the lawnmower on that.
