Haven't seen Jordan Varnado's name mentioned. The junior from Haywood and little brother of Jarvis "Swat" Varnado, can play. He has the ability to score from all levels of the floor. He is only a JR so I would probably give my pick to Barford because he is a SR, if you can only have one from each section of the state, but he is still worth consideration.

As a CPA fan and having seen a lot of their games, there is no doubt Blackwell is a great talent; however, as a sophomore, I would not be in favor of him being a Mr. Basketball finalist or winner. There are too many deserving seniors and Blackwell will have his time. I know Mr. Basketball is based on the current season, but I think the career body of work should also be considered and how the player has elevated his team throughout a career.

I had a real hard time considering him for that reason. And the fact that the kid is a 17 year old sophomore. But talent is talent and in my eyes there is not better all around big man in AA not even close. If I replaced him it would be with someone far less talented. All thing even I pick the senior evertime.

Terry Holt - 6'3" Senior, Guard East Nashville

Awards:

Terry has scored over 1,300 career points and will soon become the schools All-Time leading scorer. Terry has been to two State Tournaments and is averaging 19 ppg this year.

Worth Considering! Thanks!

Terry Holt. The Senior from East Nashville is a scorer from all three levels of the floor. Watched him and thought he could be the first 40 or 50 point game scorer at his school. 20 points in 1st quarter couple times. The coach took his foot off the gas and gave some kids playing time. Nice gesture! Kid can flat out play. Doesn't get credit he deserves.

    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
    • You’re a fool if you think I have more than one account
    • Looking back they had better records than I recalled against upper East TN.  But they still took off once ballard got there. And beating other good programs
