The blue and red game will be played on Thursday or Friday of next week

there is a universal rule in football, that to play football you have to practice football, not to ask of any young man or woman

Glad to see that's the rule, that is one thing in the past that's kept the numbers down. Some kids miss a couple of practice days and play in scrimmages or games while others that show up don't. It's like working all week then on payday your check bounces. Hope you stick by it, if the kids see you stand behind your word then maybe more will come out.

Yeah great rule, and Im sure mostly everyone can agree with that. So Coach, lets here a prediction. I am talking wins and losses, not coach speak.

only concern ourselves with one game, the first one against Dekalb county, which i think is bringing back a very experienced football team and staff.  Our short term goal right now is to get a little bit better today than we were yesterday and continue this process throughout the summer into fall camp.  Continued improvement is what we seek.

Ok game 1 vs. DeKalb. How does that one play out? What are your thoughts on this matchup? Do you expect a win?

If he didn't expect to win, he wouldn't be much of a coach. All coaches expect to win.

Wanting and expecting are totally different things, dingus. So you think the coach at Austin Peay truly thought they was going to beat UT last year?

I hope for it to be a great game.  On paper you have a veteran dekalb county squad against a very young, ineperienced pioneer squad.  No one should ever go into a game thinking that they are going to lose, kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing.  We have no room but to get better and hopefully we will provide you all with a test.  One of my old favorite wrestlers rick flair stated 'that to be the man, you have to beat the man"  you know where we are on that scale right now.  I hope that after the game you can atleast see that you have seen some improvements/

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
