LadyMustangsCoach
Who will the top teams be out of the Chattanooga area this year? Bradley graduated some serious talent. Rhea County should be pretty strong this year, or next. Bledsoe graduated some talent. Baylor should be very strong, but did not show well with a super Sophomore Class last year, maybe this is their year. Notre Dame and Signal should post some wins this year and compete for their District with Bledsoe. What say you?
Not2Smart
I'm interested in following good basketball in the Chattanoga area. I have followed Ooltewah football and enjoyed that this season. In reading the posts on Coach T and also the basketball preview it sounds like our teams in this area may be better in football and the schools in the Cleveland area better in basketball? Boys and Girls? Is that accurate?

Not2Smart
Then back to the topic heading.... Is that due to "Talent" or Coaching? Tradition? Feeder programs?
KYTNGBB
I really like Baylor. Their guard play should be almost unmatched with both Tamya Long & Kaleigh Clemmons coming off strong summers. Clemmons looks better every time I see her. Not2Smart
Thanks for the tip on BAYLOR. I will definitely check them out. Just curious, BAYLOR is not in the rankings or others considered list? These players mentioned sound strong. Why would they not be ahead of the teams considered in the Cleveland area? I don't see any Chattanooga schools listed and our news Free Press seems to figure the Cleveland schools stronger as well? What am I missing? Baylor probably should have been in the others receiving consideration list. After we looked back at their record, they lost 11 games. With all the talent they have they should not lose that many games. They're definitely a school that has a chance to move up if they start winning the games that they should win. Girls basketball in Chattanooga has been weak in the past. Don't know that that really changes this year.

LadyMustangsCoach
Couple of reasons girls bball is weak in Chattanooga. First, it is a softball city. Many of the good athletes play serious travel softball which takes them out of any non-school bball. Amazing how many softball scholarships are earned by Chattanooga HS girls. The other reason is the poor coaching in the middle schools, and many high schools. The programs are not run seriously, often with disinterested coaches. In Cleveland they have a serious middle school program where they play twice as many games (season is twice as long) and most of the school teams stay together and play together in AAU programs building chemistry. Just go watch a few of the middle school games and you will quickly see the difference between Cleveland and Chattanooga schools.
Indian
^ Volleyball city also. Some of the volleyball players I've seen would be potentially great basketball players especially in the post.
