UpperCumberlandMan
Don't mean to beat a dead horse, but the one thing you are failing to mention is that this was a HUGE rivalry game. Big Cookeville comes to lil Baxter.... So of course Upperman wanted the win and for the first half played well but then reality set in. correct, just like on a bigger stage 3a Alcoa verses 6a Maryville......And if Alcoa jumps out 20-0 and eventually loses by 8, kudos to them also. All I have heard for two years is how weak the UH schedule has been, the drop Clay, Jackson, and pick up Trousdale and Cookeville. Had a good game verses Cookeville, and had over 200 yards of offense in the second half but couldn't cash in on opprotunities or stop the CHS running attach after Gomez was hurt. Game over, CHS by 8. UpperCumberlandMan
Herald-Citizen: Monterey Wildcat head coach Scott Hughes knows that it may not be an easy task, especially when you break down the numbers. “I guess you could say it’s a rivalry,†Hughes said. “Upperman’s got nearly 100 kids on their roster and it’s really hard to be a rival with a 3A school. It’s a daunting task any time you go to play a bigger school. “Coach (Ben) Herron has a large staff and they do a tremendous job. You look at his body of work and what he’s accomplished at Upperman and it’s just tremendous. You watch them on film and they are just talented at every position, they’re fundamentally sound. It’s just a huge task for us this week.†Upperman won last year’s contest 34-0, piling on 500 yards of total offense, while Monterey — who went on to the Class 1A state semifinals — was held to 111. Omniscience
I'm taking Upperman 41-13 over Montery, Stone 27-21 over Dekalb, Whitwell 13-6 over Sequatchie, Smith 21-20 over Gordonsville, and Marion 56-0 over Grundy. Good luck to all the Region teams as the real fun starts next week.

Omniscience
Does Cannon play this week ? And I just dont have any faith in Sequatchie's offense right now. If they get that figured out then they could play with Dekalb and Upperman with the defense that they have. They gave up 30 points a game then.

Antwan
I don't see the Smith/Gordonsville game that close. I have thought that many times in the past several years. It will likely be pretty close.

Omniscience
How did Sequatchie get so much better on defense from last year? They gave up 30 points a game then. Biggest thing is a scheme change, 50 slant to a 3-3-5. Another is returning several that started last year. Some have started for 3-4 years now.
