Ensworth vs Mus

I think Coach Alston and staff have proven over the past 2 weekends that they are not playing second fiddle to the much ballyhooed Ricky Bowers et al.   MUS consistently beats and/or competes with teams that have more speed, size, and athleticism.  Tired of hearing over and over again how EHS always has the superior coaching.

Coach Alston has shown me enough that I'll never doubt his coaching, no matter who he's playing. Kudos to the Owls on another fine late-season push.

MUS is not out manned...if u look at the number of division one signers from must each year u will see that the owls rank in the Upper tier of privates...they r not out manned in any regard...and yes theIr staff does a great job.

I'm not going to argue about the level of talent on any of the top DII AA schools.  It's top notch across the board. sitting here watching the M-ville/O-land game and one word come to mind - SLOW. Does not compare to the top DII AA games.  Can you imagine if these schools had to play in successive wks (or "almost" successive wks) - EHS, BA, MUS, McCallie, MBA, Baylor, and on and on, plus the out of state powerhouses that the top DII AA teams play?  Middle of the pack would be the best they could do if that.  It's evidenced by their refusal to play the teams i just mentioned as they know the eventual result, and I know for fact those turn downs have occurred. two yrs ago, BA had 8 kids go to play with DI schools - 8!!!! -  many other schools  have similar "resumes".  Having lived in other states and having a son who played with kids like jabrill peppers, i can tell you DII AA football here is some of the best you will see anywhere. I was in texas last wk with my BA pullover on and was stopped by someone who commented about BA and DII AA football.  Happened in VA a month ago. Yes MUS is good, but so are the other schools I mentioned.  I laugh at the rankings by the Tennessean, USA today  etc.  - the folks ranking have no clue about the various "levels:" of football in this state. Whomever wins DII AA is the best team in the state.

George Quarles is smart enough -- and his teams consistent enough -- to be competitive against any DII team late in the year.

But I politely chuckle at those who think Fulton or Alcoa could hang with BA, MBA, Ensworth or MUS. Once they realized they couldn't just run up the gut for eleven yards per carry against d-lines with players faster than their backs...it would be over.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
