No Banquet for Single A Class District 7

Who made the decision not to have the football banquet this year for District 7A.  This district consists of Clay, Pickett, Jackson, and Monterey?  Why was this decision made?  Never thought I would see the day that a district couldn't support each other.  Are we upset because Monterey made it to the playoffs for the first time in 81 years.  I would think that this would be a great time to show some respect to a team that has made history. These players deserve no less respect than players from other teams.  It would appear that every coach voted against it with the exception of Monterey who has participated and paid their part in the banquet for years.  Even years when they had no players receive awards.  You would think that the other schools would have supported a team that has lost its school had no practice or weight facilities.  Practiced on a softball field and lifted weights in back of a grocery store.  I am ashamed to be from the Blue Devil nation right now.  I am not disappointed in the boys on the team but the administration that participated in this lop sided decision.

Being new to the area I had no idea they even had a banquet but if what you say is correct it is a shame. If your team can't win or represent your district then be happy and support whichever team does. Did the schools fund this or was it a sponsored event? Is 7 the only district not having a banquet?

As far as the decision to not have a banquet, I'm not sure how that took place, but this was not the first time Monterey had made the playoffs. They had made it 17 previous times. They were district champs and made the playoffs last year. This was just their first time winning a playoff game and obviously the first time being in the Semis. District banquets are always special.

I stand corrected.  I meant to say semi-finals.  Either was it is a shame that things went down the way that they did.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
