When the AD is tied in to the right people as much as GB is there wont be a change. They have had opportunities to hire a very good young coach the last 2 times the job has been available. Hes now a head coach in a better situation in Knoxville. They ran off Windell bc they forced him to take a specific freshman coach so they could get a star football player. With all of the negative press the past few years with kids leaving and them refusing to sign appropriate waivers have given LC a black eye to outsiders. LC will just have to ride it out because nothing will change until the culture of the schools athletics change.

There was a good group of talented freshman there last year that would of been able to play with the top teams in their district in another year or two, but they started with 6 or 7 now down to 4 and the 2 with the most potential is at Harriman because they weren't gonna play for that coaching staff. You just can't afford to run your best players off!

SInce you are an alum you know that the coaching hires have been really poor (besides SW and KW) since Mitchell left.  LC screwed over Dorsett and its been rocky at best since then, besides the 2 mentioned of course.  AAA ball hasn't helped them either, and there are too many church leagues watering down the rec league.

A lot of people didn't like Mitchell when he was here but he was a very good teacher of the game. No doubt Dorsett should of got the job back when they gave it to Coach Gray. It's just been pretty hard to watch this program the past couple of years. And now he hires a coach that might be a good guy but is not a good coach and probably the worst hire of the past couple.

Worst hire of the past couple? Are you sure you know anything about basketball? This team has all the hallmarks of a well-coached team. The players clearly know what to do on both offense and defense. This is a team with only 7 (maybe 8) legitimate varsity players. To claim that Coach ran off two players shows your lack of familiarity with the situation- Harriman hired one of the boy's aau coaches, and as soon as that boy saw an opportunity to go to a comfortable, easier situation, he bolted.

Knoxfrog, I promise you I know more about basketball and the situation with joe and Hayden then you! The hiring of joe's AAU coach helped, but the hiring of Epperson, and the two assistants were the main reason. (Exact words from the parent) so, knowing where to be on offense and defense is the signs of a good coach? You sounds like a 5&6 year rec league coach. You need to go watch an Epperson practice then go watch Wells at cak or Blevins at Bearden or Elridge at Maryville. It's night and day difference! He is out of his league, needs to go back to single A girls basketball. Execution on offense and defenses would be good signs of a well coached team and they haven't showed much at all! Their timing on offense and fundmentals on defense are missing in every game!

I love how you don't respond when you find out you don't know as much as you thought you did. Prob one of the know it all parents that has helped Greg B turned that program into garbage

    • A lot of people don’t realize how valuable JMO was. QB, safety, punter and holder on pat’s. Kid did it all. I fully believe if he was healthy Dburg would have made it to the ship last year.
    • If Dyersburg quarterback who is also starting safety hadn’t got hurt it would of another blowout
    • For perspective the county school I’m associated and graduated from only has 7,600 people in the entire county with a median age of roughly 47. That’s not very many 14-18 year olds to choose from. I think the football team had 25-28 kids or around there.  On the other hand Shelby County has 916,000+ with a median age of 36. This isn’t just about Shelby county, but all the big ones with huge economic advantages!  An urban/rural split would benefit tons of smaller schools that have to compete with counties with 120x the amount of people. Especially the ones who can pick and choose their players from a pool like that!   I also agree with Pujo about charter and magnets and they will eventually be phased into the private divisions because it is obviously an advantage plus all the funding! Add that county schools can’t go recruit outside of their county like charters and magnets!
    • They should be starting next week and go from there.  They never do Spring Practice in April
