  1. Glad Trevon is playing. He is an excellent athlete.
  2. City owns the field not the school system. It makes since with all the use by rec and middle school teams, but it might come at the expense of a city rec maintenance person losing their job. Hard to justify all of the staff they already have.
  3. Agree and it's my right with Freedom of Speech to tell them their a piece of _____.
  4. Depending on location that will be a lot of travel to and from school for some of those kids. How far is it from end of OS zone to end of Rockwood Zone or Midway to OS? I wouldn't want to pay the gas bill for those buses.
  5. Shows you the intelligence of Clinton fans. He was hands down the best coach on staff and ran the offense very efficiently without a whole lot of depth. AC is getting another excellent coach, and Clinton will get to face the reality that there is not enough quality athletes in the halls to compete.
  6. What people don't remember or know they didn't have a health/PE position to offer. That cuts down on applicants. Kerr's first year he was still teaching at the middle school. Clinton is not a desired job for an established coach. If they get a new coach then they will need to look at first time coaches more openly.
  7. I want to know where this talent is. Yes they have 2 5'8 receivers and a sophomore qb with no experience. Their best 2 defenders are transfers along with one of the receivers. Their middle school has been average at best talent wise the last few years, and they get zero players from their other feeder school. OR has 2 strong feeder schools that Clinton middle rarely beats and AC has 2 feeder schools and they rarely beat Norris. Kerr may or may not be the right coach, but to think someone could do much better is crazy. Dont tell me they should of given the job to Scotty. He promised he wouldn't apply for the head coaching job if they named him a Asst Principal at CHS, sure enough the job came available a year later and he was the first to apply. He sealed his own fate making that promise. If Clinton wants to win it needs to start with Rec League. They do not need 3 different Rec teams for an area so small.
  8. First of all classless post. Secondly why would Fulton turn them in. Fulton is not sanctioned in any sport by TMSAA, and Grace unsanctioned 2 years ago.
  9. Could be that. Could also be if the second middle school team was sanctioned by TMSAA then that would make him ineligible from Varsity participation as a freshman. If his middle school team wasn't sanctioned, which most aren't in Knox, then it shouldn't be a violation.
  10. Clinton has to actually own a field first. They lease their field from the city.
  11. The rule might seem unfair from one side, but the other side doesn't feel the same. I am not a believer in transferring when a school has invested a spot in a certain individual that could of went to another kid who lost the opportunity to be a part of that team. Now another kid or two will lose a spot because of the transfer. Too many have forgotten that the kids should come first in high school athletics. Plus it has been stated by k2 that they don't need high school anyway. So why bother with transferring.
  12. Chill is correct if the Jay guy coached them in any type of club team or summer league they will not be eligible with a change of address. This is assuming they are not 8th graders. This rule has been put into place to help stop AAU bball recruitment. Ask the 3 former bball coaches at Harriman about it.
  13. 2 things wrongG Boling AD Unrealistic Expectations
  14. Just read on KnoxNew$ that Tee won't be playing basketball in College and probably won't play next season if he can get it worked out with his credits. I really wanted to see him play another year. I first saw him as a 7th grader and he was unbelievable then and only got better each year after.
  15. Thanks. As a sports fan I selfishly would like to see him stay and play both.
  16. Is there any concern Tee would graduate early so he could start up spring football and summer bball in college? I know he loves basketball, I was just wondering out of my own curiosity.
  17. Can't believe 2 Knox Schools have passed on Higgins. I guess it's true about Hardin Valley not caring about Athletic teams winning. HV could be a power in several sports due to their location and academic programs that are offered.
  18. Didn't see her play this year, but she was like that last year as a 6th grader. If she gets stronger on the offensive end no one will stop her. Of course that's what I saw of her as 6th grader. For the coaches in that district everyone should feel lucky. Now that I am in Knox Co I saw about half the teams play and the coaching isn't in the same league.
  19. The big 7th grader for Jefferson is very good. The crazy thing he was that size last year as a 6th grader and he hasn't been held back. Nussbaum for Jefferson does an excellent job getting kids prepared fundamentally for high school. I hate that Clinton didn't have Lucky last night he separated his shoulder the last time they played Jefferson. He was the best player in the district. However I do not think he will end up at Clinton High. He just transferred in this year and he will probably go back to Knox Co. He will probably be the first basketball player that has transferred out in 4 years. They have done a better job keeping their kids its just up to the high school to keep them happy.
  20. Agreed. The only problem is the rec leagues in some areas are terrible. For example Clinton has 5 different rec leagues (Clinton, South Clinton, Claxton, Upward, and 2nd Baptist). Their so bad all but one are coed. Trying to get leagues/Daddies to buy in is impossible. The best thing that could happen is the High Schools start hosting their own rec league and use former players/ player parents to coach.
  21. Agree 100%. Oak Ridge is the only team with 2 really strong feeder Schools usually the top 2 in their district. That allows kids a lot more experience before they even get to High School. Clinton gets no one from Norwood anymore, AC doesn't get many from Lake City, Gibbs is in that weird zoning issue w Holston, Karns and Powell only have one true feeder school and Karns kids split after middle school, and typically Lafollette and Jacksboro take turns being good so Campbell Co doesn't really benefit as much from those 2 feeders. Freshman ball is just difficult for the rural areas.
  22. I didn't want to chime in but I will. Years ago I asked one of his former assistants why they stopped letting football players play basketball and still let baseball kids play. He told me it was because a former football coach who was new at the time would not let the football kids do anything with basketball during the summer. So Blevins got ticked and made the rule and its been like that ever since. I do not like it, but that is what I was told.
