Mariakis is an incredible person/coach but do not see him coaching anymore.  I can definitely see Pemberton or maybe even the guy from Chatt Christian that coached at all levels.  What about Charles Fant from ND?  I hear he is from Cleveland.

Heath Weir as a head coach?

 

Raider bloodline indeed...intense and loyal...but NO WAY he's left to run that team.  Just sayin...

 

Doug Greene's name will naturally come up.

 

So will:  (already have)  Pemberton, Fitzgerald, Rankin...

I expect there will be strong leanings toward promoting from within for the sake of continuity of the program and the staff.  Love it or hate it, there's some logic there.

 

I also expect some looks at folks who have consistently beaten Cleveland (why wouldn't you?) such as West's coach...maybe even an upper assistant at Maryville...  and also a smaller school coach who has really succeeded where maybe he shouldn't have.  (no names come to mind, but they have to be out there...) 

 

Will be interesting to see who applies.  Last time, they had a pile of applicants from multiple states.

 

They need to consider this hire very carefully...they do have some momentum and a little bit of swagger back.  The wrong hire will reverse the confidence and send the wrong message to the "feeder" kids and parents.

If they hire from within, I'll be very upset. Not saying they wouldn't be good head coaches but we need a new identity. And I hope whomever they bring in, brings a new staff

 I don't see Derrick Rang staying at Dresden long.  I believe he'll end up at another big program.  Has the George Quarles pedigree and was successful the one season at Powell.   He may be in the mix.
