Currently, girls participating in wrestling under TSSAA may choose to compete against boys during the regular season, but in doing so they forfeit eligibility to qualify for the TSSAA girls wrestling state championship.

The Board of Control took no action against the proposal.

Published: August 18, 2015

The Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association Board of Control on Monday approved a request by the new Nolensville High School for TSSAA membership starting with the 2016-2017 school year.

The new high school, which has not yet settled on a mascot, will feature an expected enrollment of 550 students in its first year in grades nine and 10 only.

It will participate on the junior varsity level for football during its first year of existence, following with the varsity level in the fall of 2017. All other sports will participate at the varsity level in the 2016-2017 school year.

The NHS football team will be placed in Region 4-AA, with every other sport dropping into Division I-AA District 12 and Region 6.

Joining Nolensville in its district and region in every sport except football will be Cascade, Christ Presbyterian Academy, Giles County, Marshall County, Page and Spring Hill.

In its football region will be Cascade, Community High School, Eagleville, East Robertson, Forrest, Jackson County, Watertown and Westmoreland.

The high school recently chose royal blue, silver and black as its main colors, and a mascot is currently being chosen by future students.

Also on the agenda at the TSSAA Board of Control meeting was a proposal by Brentwood High School to change a rule for girls wrestling.
