Cleveland travels to White County

All I'm saying is that WC has never been good in football that I can remember. Whether the talent is there or not. Only guy I've ever heard come through white county was Kyle Gribble and still talk to him to the day

Well you just don't remember quite far enough back....

I remember Kyle, he was a great football AND basketball player.

In the mid to late '80's they had some very talented teams. No they didn't win any state championships, but they had several guys get college offers and some sign. I speak with one of those guys regularly here in Cookeville, and I can tell you that it tears these guys up how the program has fallen off over the last 25 years.

I'm saying the TALENT has been and always will be there. Just not being developed these days.

20+ plus years don't mean much about today

Sure it does. The talent is the same. You said White County wasn't exactly a hot bed of football "talent".

But they do have talent. They're just not doing anything with it.

Not having winning teams doesn't mean they don't have the talent to do so.

Tracy Malone just went 10-0 at East Ridge. Houser goes 8-2 and Yall run him off as well. So you've had good coaches. Good luck on trying to get more good coaches to apply.

malone didn't do much at wc. houser went 8-3 his second season with alot of talent. all the other seasons where losing seasons best i remember. 2-8 this year. it's about what you done for me lately. malone has a talent at east ridge. but to your point there has been some coaches who have had success at other schools.

Nah that's wrong. I can remember years ago when Sparta had a few football teams with 2,3,4 college signees each year.

The talent is there, always has been.

You don't necessarily "breed" basketball talent. That's something you nurture & focus on from an early age. They do that in basketball. They could do it in football too.

Rhea County & White County are basically the same size (6k apart) with similar demographics. They will have very similar talent for both sports. RC focuses on football, WC on basketball.

squad i have to agree with most everything you said here. wc is a basketball town just like rhea co. is a football town. we live, eat, and breathe basketball year round here just like rhea co. does in football. seems like the talent is there when there young and it just don't get developed right. idk. i know when my boy played junior pro football we beat rhea co. several times and now pretty much same kids get killed by rhea co.

    • It is what it is. Sorry DFL.
    • One of the biggest loosing teams in Mid-State are the Macon County Tigerettes. I have noticed that the roster is smaller than in the years past. All the senior's have quit. We have a great group of Jr High players coming up. I sure hope they don't loose them, like they have lost so many others this year. With this young group of girls coming up, a weaker district, they should have no problem going to State.
    • It was updated this season, because I did it.  Linder is the school's all-time leading rusher at 5,156 yards with 2,436 of those coming in 2014.
    • Oh, I’m sure you did. Maybe you heard just a rumor, but considering we have a football practice field and a soccer field that’s frequently used for lacrosse games and practices, I highly doubt it. Let me change that. I know for a fact that didn’t happen.   Glad you finally stopped attacking a bunch of high school students, but still obsessed with the coaching staff for some unknown reason, even though you could name more than three (at most) coaches without looking it up. But now come up with something else.
    • You really mean the Price twin boys and Lyin Larry.
