What is going on in region 7, Centennial looking for a new coach, what else is going on in the off-season? What does the teams have coming back and who did the seniors sign with.

In my opinion, Centennial or Henry County will most likely dominate this region as in years passed. Brentwood will be competitive again. They really made some good strides as the season went on last season. Rossview will be replacing their QB. They will be young, but very athletic. Dickson could be the sleeper. Don't know a lot about them. Northeast has a ton of athletes, and a game changer in the Cross kid. I was told Clarksville High school lost some 20+ seniors with a team of only around 45 last year including their QB who made a ton of plays last year. West Creek doesn’t have a coach as of right now.

Anybody else with some other insight out there?

At this pointI expect Brentwood and HC to battle for the top spot. The Bruins were one of the more physically imposing teams we faced last season, and it seems like they were fairly young (someone can correct me if I'm wrong). Henry County should be ready for prime time on offense, but the defense will have several question marks. Hard to get a good read on Centennial right now. They are losing a lot to graduation and it remains to be seen how drastically the coaching change will affect them. DC and Northeast will be worth keeping an eye on, especially if Dickson's QB is returning. Northeast improved a good deal over the course of the season last year and had some excellent young talent. If said talent is still at Northeast high school this fall, they will be improved. Rossview and Clarksville could either sink or swim. Both schools have good coaching but several personnel questions. West Creek will continue their struggles.

Agreed. Centennial with Rector being gone will be interesting. Any Clarksville high people with any insight out there as far as talent and number of players?

Clarksville should be in a really good spot next year. Last year they beat every team in the city and I expect they will repeat that along with a few addition wins in the region. I will even go on the record and say they get the win in Henry County next year.

So here’s what they have going for them.

They will have an upgrade at QB. Nothing against last year’s young man, but their Junior QB has had two years of JV ball along with back up reps on varsity last year. He is a solid young man who will be a true dual threat.

The back field will be an absolute stable that will be led by their Senior RB/LB who is for sure a D1 talent.

But most importantly they will have the best O line that they have seen in years. This is the year that Coach Shelby’s strength and conditioning program will truly start to be seen on the field.

From Henry County, DL Gunner Osbron signed with Navy, FB Brevin Odom signed with Maryville College, and K Haidar Zaidan signed with Tennessee Tech.

Congratulations to all of the young men from around the region who signed on to further their careers.

How about:

1) Henry County

2) Brentwood

3) Clarksville

4) Northeast

5) Centennial - Sorry, I just see a major drop off here (IMO)

6) Rossview

7) Dickson County

8) West Creek

Very early obviously.  No dog in the race, but just how I see it.

I can see it somewhat shaking out like this. I'd def flip 3 and 6. Clarksville lost some 20+ seniors, including both sides of the line outside of a couple. They only had around 45 player last year. Rossview will be better this year. Ton of athletes.

Clarksville will be just fine.

But speaking of losses, Rossview's principle will be retiring at the end of the year and their Head Coach has been looking hard for a new job.

Just curious if you know why Clarksville's numbers are so low? This was a team that dressed 85+ kids with the previous coach. I heard Rossview was turning away people last year. For two schools that are 10 minutes apart, something doesn't add up.

It's a combination of things. Mostly just a normal ebb and flow of players.

The low numbers started with the middle school team. They used to turn players away due to a 50 player limit imposed by JR Pro. The last three years they haven't even come close to 50.

As for the program, Coach Shelby runs a tough program and he does not dress players on Friday night unless they earn it during the week. This has eliminated the few who join the team just to wear the jersey and others who just aren't willing to put in the work.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
