Wildcat, I think he was referring to University Christian from Jacksonville (A-plus is in Texas) - UC won the 2a championship last year and is playing in this year's 2a championship game. As for Hoover, contact Cody White (BA's head coach) 615-373-0611, I'm sure he'd welcome your input (as I'm positive ZoneRead has no say in who the eagles schedule). It's my understanding that BA has had an open invitation with Maryville and Alcoa since Coach White came to BA, but has been refused each year. There has been rumor that Valor Christian from Denver inquired about a game. I get the feeling though, that no matter who BA plays, you won't be satisfied with their strength of schedule.

Why beat yourself up with a really hard out of division schedule? I agree that challenging yourself with one nationally ranked team a year is a good idea but the end goal is a state championship. BA has plenty of competition in the league. No reason to beat yourself up. Take the easy wins when you can. Too bad local teams won't take the opportunity to be the easy wins.

It does come full circle as I don't want CPA playing BA.

Zone Read, you claim that Austin Peay is rebuilding, guess what village idiot, they went 0-10 yet again . The Aplus Florida power house that you boasted about multiple times is also 0-10. Do you ever research anything. Also, I spoke to coach Bedsole at Spanish Fort Alabama. He said to give him a call. Now you have a conact for Hoover and Spanish Fort. I want to ensure that you find someone better than 0-10.

considering they had a brand new coach so yeah they are rebuilding. And the “Florida powerhouse" isn't a+. I'm referring to University Christian in Jacksonville FL. And the comment about them being a 2A school is funny. BA with its enrollment is a 2A school and Uc is around the same size so it was a good pickup for them. The team had a ton of great players on it who will and are playing college football. Also they had to pay them 6000 to play so it goes to show you, it's hard to schedule games out of state since none of the Instate “powers" want to play

    • plus it removes the pressure around winning.
    • You are correct.   The teacher's pay scale is virtually the same in Knox County, now, as it is at Oak Ridge.   The coaching supplements are still higher at Oak Ridge, from what I was told, but not a huge difference.   Plus, Rusty is going from a position coach to an OC position, which is what he was at South Doyle and where his comfort zone is.  And from a special education teaching slot to a PE teaching slot.  There is a lot of positivity in that move without even considering the coaching aspect.   Anybody who sees something negative here is just looking for negativity to begin with.  But some live in that world.   Really good hire for Brent.  He now has two experienced and quality coordinators and can concentrate on being a head football coach.
    • He was pretty darn good for a freshman, but he will have a hard time seeing the field at Oakland for a good while, I’m afraid.
    • Dang I feel bad for the kid. I’m sure he loves his dad and wants to do anything for his dad but I don’t think he realizes his dad isn’t doing the best for his football career if he keeps jumping schools.
    • I’m not taking shots at the kid, but “athlete” is not something I would use to describe him. He was a long, lengthy, defensive back
