Sounds like you're just a hater

We played the game tonight as both of our teams played each other so it made economical sense to play this game tonight for all of us.

As for the game, well i'll just say that i lost a lot of respect for some referee's tonight and their ability to call a fair game. I want someone to explain to me where it is written that when you go on the road you have to get the shaft on the calls? 15-3 was the foul count tonight in the 2nd half and the 3rd foul wasn't called until the end of the game. I'm not saying that JC didn't foul 15 times but i guarantee you GP fouled just as much without a whistle. We get 2 rebound's under our goal with 6 seconds left to go in the game, we're only down 2 and get absolutely hammered twice trying to put it back in and no call. I'm sick of watching this type of refereeing by men that are supposed to call it fair. I've watched and coached in hundreds of games and I know a foul or 10 when i see them If its a foul in the first quarter if its a foul on the visiting team then that same foul should be called in the fourth quarter and on the home team. I want someone to tell me where this "unwritten" rule is that you get the shaft as a visiting team just because you have to travel to another gym to play. There is no way these men that called this game can justify what they did to the Jackson County boys tonight no way. You notice i didn't say a word about the girls game right? That's because for whatever reason they allowed the players in the girls game to decide the outcome and the best team won, Goodpasture girls. I'm sick and tired of watching games like this. They absolutely swallowed the whistle on the 2 put backs we had to tie the game up. They absolutely decided not to call ANY FOULS against the home team and as a fan that is so very frustrating to me. I just don't understand it but if they can sleep at night i can. I"m not saying that JC would have won or should have won, the private school boys played hard and they are a solid team, however when you have to beat 8 and Jackson Co. for sure had to beat 8 tonight instead of 5 then it makes it much harder. I promise you this, had the foul count been the other way around Jackson County would have won. That much i do know.

Clay over Goodpasture.

Pickett vs Clay in Region Championship.

Clay wins Region Championship.

Clay winning sets up an old Rivalry game on the mountain between Van Buren & Pickett Co. With Van Buren defending home court & advancing to state for the 3rd year in a row.

PC at VB would be a great game. I don't think PC has what it takes to win there if it happens. Clay County has been the only team in 7A who has proven they can win consistently at that gym.

This will be the last year that VanBuren County enjoys a cupcake schedule to host the Substate game.  After this year they move into the same region as District 7A.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
