      Kingsbury High School Presents the

2017 “King of the Mat” Pre-Season Tournament

 

Friday, November 10th & Saturday, November 11th

                                     

These conditions must be met:

1.     Can not wear school uniforms that identify a particular school

2.     Participants must be eligible to wrestle in the upcoming high school season

3.     All entries must be submitted via email by 8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 7th

 

Location:    Memphis East High School

                        3206 Poplar Avenue

                        Memphis, TN 38111

 

Weigh-ins:  Coaches will do satellite weigh-ins for their own team.  Entries must be submitted via e-mail to nelson.shirley@memphistr.org by                               8:00 pm on Tuesday, November 7th.  One division will wrestle on Friday, and the other two divisions will wrestle on Saturday.  We                               will inform you by Wednesday or Thursday which division will wrestle which day.

 

Times:        Wrestling begins Friday at 4:00 pm and Saturday at 9:00 am

                        Hydration tests will be available at 7:00 am on Saturday morning

 

Divisions:    Advanced will be wrestlers that have wrestled for three or more years or have varsity-level experience.

                         Novice will be wrestlers that have wrestled for 1-2 years or only have JV-level experience.

                         Beginners will be wrestlers that have never wrestled before and can include any high school age group.

 

Cost Per Wrestler:          $10.00

 

Admission: $7.00 for spectators at the door (children 9 and under are free)

 

Awards:      Medals to Top 2 wrestlers for each pool

 

Format:      There will be no weight classes.  Each wrestler will be placed in a pool of five wrestlers, so each wrestler is guaranteed four matches.                           Each pool will consist of only 1-2 weight classes (e.g., a kid weighing 141 pounds could be in a pool ranging from 133-145 pounds or                           139-152 pounds).

 

Length of Matches:     Advanced and Novice will be 2-1-1

                                                Beginners will be 1-1-1

                                                *Subject to change based upon the number of entries

  • Recent Posts

    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams. 
    • What do we need to do to help with Mr. Basketball?  
    • With June camps right around the corner, how are programs looking, reloading, any notable underclass coming in?
