I enjoy reading your prep write ups in the Pickett and Fentress County papers. Thought I'd give you my top 10 on the plateau for now, we're pumped at the oppurtunity to put Clarkrange on top, it may be early, but this is just my opinion.....for now anyway 1.Clarkrange, 2.Jackson County, 3.Cookeville,4.Livingston, 5.Celina, 6.Cumberland County, 7.Cannon County, 8.Upperman, 9.York, 10.Monterey/PickettCounty

Usually the AAA teams are not even in the poll, but I do not see Sparta as being that great this year. I saw them beat Clarkrange and it was not the Clarkrange team that showe dup the other night..Scrimmages do not mean much, you got students calling the game and when they scrimmage they play to try stuff out. That's why my heart is not broke that Celina lost to Upperman. Celina is a better team than Upperman. If they played in December, I would put my money on Celina.

How is the Jackson Co. team this year compared to last year if they are as good then they should be #1, #2 Cookeville , #3 Livingston depending on if they are as good as last year, From everything everyone on here is saying then White Co. may be at #4 but they would have had to make many improvments since last year. Good luck to all teams.

Tnanks Ross55. I try to cover the games in 7A &7AA and give stats and scores...the opinions are a mix of my obervations and from fans, coaches and players, so sometimes the comments are from me and other times from someone else. The column is meant to be everyone's. It runs in many of the area newspapers including the ones you mentioned and Celina and Monetery I saw Clarkrange and this will be my 8th year here and the is the best Clarkrange team I have seen, and they have all been great teams. I don't put rankings in the column until the season has been underway for a few weeks, but so far 7A is 2-0 against nationally recognized 7AA! I see 7AA as good as ever but 7A as being better than last year. I saw Pickett Co. last night beat a very good Smith team. They came back from 18-9, to outscore the Owelettes 18-5 and were up 31-25 after 3. They won at the buzzer 39-38. Pickett is much improved. I haven't seen Celina yet but know they'll be tough again. Don't overlook Monterey in 7A. I haven't seen Livingston or York yet, or any of the other teams in 7A &7AA...but know there will be some great teams here again this year...the best in the state again.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
