  1. I wish everyone would remember one thing. All of you keep talking about how much easier it is going to be to play Riverdale without Scott Thomas. I do believe they played without him Tuesday and beat the team no one else in the district has been able to beat. True they may have been playing on emotion. Teams often do that for a fallen teammate and that could continue. Don't overlook them and keep giving them bulletin board material.
  2. Football fanatic. Way to be a booster of Warrior football. If I were those younger kids, I would really already be wanting to hear how awful I am. As far as the QB situation. The kid you are all talking about doesn't want to play football or he would be playing. He had to be begged in middle school to play. Wouldn't play his seventh grade year with the coach begging him too, then did his eighth grade year. Wouldn't play his ninth grade year, started out this year, then quit. Sounds like he wanted to play. Some of you are talking sour grapes. Some of you forget where the football team was five years ago. Some of you are talking out of both sides of your mouth. Brown babied players last year and he didn't need to and then you turn around and say he should beg this other kid to play. If kids don't want to play or aren't tough enough to handle it, then nothing else can be done. All these brilliant armchair quarterbacks on here want to tell others how to do it. of course, that's why they are on here. Like me, you are not a coach. I agree with what Sparta Boy says. Be proud of where the football team is now. Support the ones who are out there and working hard. I have not seen a coach anywhere that everyone agrees with. Fact of the matter, there are always going to be people who don't get to play or who get their feelings hurt by something the mean old coach says. Believe it or not when Rankin left Riverdale, there were people who were glad to see him go. All this stuff being said on here and around town does nothing but destroys team chemistry. By being so degrading to the coaches, you are in the process destroying the team whether you want to admit it or not. The more kids hear this kind of stuff, the more they begin to believe it whether it is true or not and to be honest, I don't think the people that really matter will ever make their decisions based on what a fan on coacht says. I guess maybe he should let the players and the fans decide who to play at QB. That would work out great. Ever heard the saying too many chiefs and not enough Indians?
  3. Seven I believe you need to reread what Kob said in his post. He said those south of Bledsoe meaning Sequatchie County was glad Brown left because they hadn't beaten Bledseo in forever. Please White County beat Cookeville so seven will stop posting and running down the coach which in case he doesn't realize it is the equivalent to destroying team morale. You are doing just as much for the negative attitudes of the team as you say the coach is doing.
  4. Warrior mom - Oden is "By far" the best, but Taylor is a "close second." How can both of those things be true? Oden is good, but Chaisson Allen is the real deal too. He can do it all on the basketball court. Just a quick observation!
  5. What the player you are talking about did was definitely wrong. He was punished for it. As you said, he did not pitch against you guys and he also missed other games. Our students are expected to behave and when they don't by doing bad things or the student section using bad language, they are punished.
  6. Okay, once again this thread is turning into something totally off the subject of District 7AAA basketball. Can we make one for true conversation about the teams and one for this off the subject banter.
  7. Let's see how far back some of you go or if you are all high school kids. Does anyone other than myself think that the teams overall this season are weaker than in some of the season's past. For instance, I think the Oakland teams of the 90's would be hands down better than any team this season. Those with Gerald King, K.J. Harden, Matt Coble, etc. How about the Riverdale teams of the 80's with the Corder brothers? The White County state championship teams. Even the Oakland teams that finished second in the district those years with Brennan King, etc. they would dominate this year. Lebanon with Daniel Easterly and even in the 80's with a guy by the name of Troy Bond. Cookeville had some good teams too. Sacha Danilovic played there in the 80's, Ronnie Robinson. The teams with Terry Delaney, Brandon Flatt and company would win the district this year and they were a middle of the pack team then. Some of the Warren County teams of the 90's would finish in one of the top two places this year. I know most of you will disagree but I just really believe, this is not one of the strongest all around years for District 7AAA. That's not saying someone won't go a long way. I'm just saying some of the teams from the past would have little trouble this year. Now, you young guys don't be offended. Plus, most of you don't remember these teams so it would be hard for you to compare.
  8. No wonder these threads get closed. The posts have nothing to do with District 7AAA basketball.
  9. Voice, I'm not sure but I don't think it is a very smart thing to do to talk back to coacht himself of all people. The man provides us a board to talk high school sports on. Give him a little respect.
  10. Are Shelbyville stars, Alex Fuller and Ashleigh Newman, playing AAU anywhere this spring? What about any of the others like Sade Buley, Laura Hall, etc. I haven't heard much talk about those girls and AAU this time around?
  11. The dissatisfaction with Slatten went far beyond his record. Everyone realized the talent was not as good as in some years past. The problems were the way he handled things away from the court, his demeanor and the relationships he built or rather failed to build with his players. Two hour practices before games did nothing to build morale. One thing is for sure he knows his x's and o's but did he know how to get the players to respect him. Players don't have to like coaches but they have to respect him and that just wasn't there. Too many discipline problems. You have to punish your best players for mising practices or misbehaving just like you do the others. That didn't happen. When rules are bent it makes far bad situations. No sense though in beating a dead horse. This is over now. White County will be looking for a new coach. Some will support them and there will be those who don't. That's the way it goes. Good luck to the new coach and team and good luck to Coach Slatten in whatever he pursues.
  12. Oh I remember now, he threw the ball at her back as she was walking off.
  13. How old was Chrissy Davenport when she moved to Shelbyville? The cockiness about living in someone's shadow is what turns people against you not the wins and losses. People may live in the shadow of wins and losses but not in the important things in life like class and humility.
  14. Guys, give it up. They are never going to answer the question not becasue they wnat to keep us all guessing but becasue they can't answer and prove they could win with all local girls. You know if they could they would just so they would be right. Yes lots of college coaches do go there to watch. If I were a college coach I would go there to because they always have some of the top players. But there are other places across the country and even in the state of Tennesse who have good players too. No, they will never be found of any wrongdoing. As long as the coach himself is not going out and getting the players, there is not anything that can be done. This is a moot point. The arguing about that will go on as long as players continue to move there. They will never admit they do anything like that. Just like the others of us will never believe there is not something going on. Oh yeah, other teams also have kids who excel in the classroom and in their communities. Just as those teams and other teams have kids who sometimes don't always do the right thing. Shelbyville does not have the market cornered on good kids and in the end that is what matters the most. Making good citizens out of the teenagers. Teenegers who will one day be the adults in their respective communities whether it be their hometowns or not. However, I would still love to know which team it is that had all Shelbyville players (at least six years in the program).
  15. I remember that. Didn't he get escorted out for shoving Jolly when she dove after a ball going out of bounds.
