Stone Memorial at Maplewood

I haven't spotted a thread to this game, so I figure I start one. Better late than never. I don't know much about Stone Memorial. I believe offensively they run a wing-t. Please someone correct me if I am wrong. Maplewood's defense is average, at best, and not well discipline. So a wing-t can cause a lot of trouble for a defense when players don't stick well to their assignments.

Maplewood's offense has morphed into a passing team over the past few years. The trouble is that they don't seem to be able to methodically drive down the field with their passing. They seem to rely on either the deep ball  or busted screens for their scoring. Their running game is down this season. I would say it's just below average, at best. M

Maplewood is the better team on paper, and expected to win. But then again last year the same was said about a 10-0 Stone Memorial team when they were eliminated by Spring Hill in the first round.

I won't hazard at predicating a score. But I think Maplewood will be able to eke out a win in the end.

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
