Now with CA out of the way can Maury County address the real issue? To many small schools! Tennessee has moved away from multiple small unit schools. Being in the very bottom of enrollment there is no way Hampshire and Santa Fe can compete across the board in Single A outside Maury County.

Beside Mt. Pleasant none of the Maury County Boys high school teams have won a single region game since Cully did with the Columbia transfers back in 2008-2009. The failure to win a region game by all this local teams had nothing to do with CA.

It's definitely time to make a change!

Another note: CA will struggle across the board in sports for a few years but once a few Maury County athletes transfer there, with the financial aid, they will be fine in the main sports. (football, basketball, baseball and softball)

It's amazing how all these private school people have so many solutions to public school issues. It's obvious they know what their talking about with all the state championships CA has won over the years....oh wait they've won one, in baseball, in 1994.

Why don't they leave now?

Well it's obvious, Carey and Co. will be seniors next year and they know they'll have another shot to make a run against the public schools. After he's gone the talent level drops off a cliff. Same in football, next year's senior class and their best player Landsdell have a better chance to make a run against the public schools than the privates like themselves.

Yeah losing to a team for a third straight time this season and by 21 in the district championship is one heck of a formula. CA beat Richland by 22 in the district championship, what about Richlands formula?

State championship in baseball, girls playing in championship game today, boys not in tourney only because they couldn’t get past the other A school in Lawrence county, also in the state tourney, also holding a baseball title. Stown softball, volleyball, baseball basketball all have recent state appearances

One title, along with  finals in soccer, softball, and  basketball. Semis in football.  That softball final series featured 3 amazing ladies that went on to play for the lady vols.  The basketball  finals loss was to a small town public school, perry county.  They have nice collection of  state championships!

Yes, that was a great basketball team.  People that watched the entire tourney thought that perry co had the best team in all classes. 3 pt shooters and the big man on his way to play for bobby Knight were awesome.    CA loss in soccer and football were also to public schools.  Funny, public schools beating a private. So it can be done, just not in Maury Co?  That is a public problem.   Tell us about your schools accomplishments

State final 4 and two Mr. Basketball finalist in the past 15 years. Our school is so small we don't even have a football team, but the team our school co-ops with won the 2010 state championship. In the fact the quarterback of that team left CA in middle school to play for a MCPS.

That was when the Columbia guys came to play?  Good for you.   Didn’t you help central win state in bowling as well?  QB had ability to play with the bigs, that’s where he needed to be.  Central was great at that classification, but couldn’t compete in 6A. Like other MCPS, their programs have been off in recent years

My understanding is TSSAA plans  Districts, Regions and Classifications on a 2 year cycle. So that is why CA has submitted a request for the 2019-2020 school year.

So how is Grace Christian leaving this coming season?

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
